In my opinion there's something else happening on campus behind the scenes and unfortunately playing out in front of us every Saturday afternoon.

Well, something is going on, isn't it.  (Do rhetorical questions get a question mark?)  Two years ago I stood behind the endzone in Collegeville after a couple of SJU brainfarts had turned a 14 point lead into a tie game.  I watched the SJU defense hold the Tommies to a FG in overtime and then watched the offense march out for its turn.  Watching the offensive linemen, I could tell that they were going to push it in for the winning touchdown, and they did.  We were clearly the better team that day.  Last year I watched the teams go into overtime and when the Johnnies scored the answering touchdown I thought going for 2 points to win would have been the better strategy because the defense could no longer stop Wartman.  The errant extra point that gave the Tommies their 1 point victory likely only moved up the inevitable result.  This year speaks for itself.

I just watched the post-Augsburg interview video on the Daily Planet website, and John looked tired and deflated then, so he must really look like sh!t now.  I don't worry about his doing whatever he can to finish the season in the best way possible, but I do wonder if he has the energy to address all the issues that obviously are going to have to be dealt with if the J's are going to turn things back around.

Maybe Caruso makes the D2 jump in 3-5 year when......UST jumps to D2. Let's be real, the school has 6,000+ undergrads and almost 11,000 in total including its (terribly profitable) graduate programs. UST's goal is to be the second biggest/most relevant/highest rated/well endowed school in the state behind the U. Do they plan to do that at the D3 level? My guess is no.

I can not express how disrespected I am by your comments.  How dare you make false accusations of myself and my teammates.  You are not only disrespecting me but my family and my program.  I was at the game with my father and Great Uncle, who by the way is a big time Johnnie (as were a lot of my family members) and quite the baseball player in his day (they called Hank Aaron up in the minors instead of him).  I am sure you can ask either of them how I conducted myself at the game if you want some truth.  If you have ever met me or know anything about me or the program that I came from, you would know that what you said could not be true. You were not only giving a misrepresentation of myself but my family, friends, and school. In our program we are taught to hold each other to a higher standard, not to belittle opponents. As for Greg Morse, probably the nicest most innocent kid that you could ever meet and would never conduct himself in the manner that you said. Please let's get the facts straight and refrain from making accusations that have no grounds.    As per your "classless" comments, that now speaks for itself.

@Retired Old Rat, I indeed remember BOTH of our conversations.  The first conversation entailed you accusing me the same as Faunch, and I was not pleased by your false assumptions so I apologize for how I reacted.  Per our second conversation I indeed apologized to you for the confusion, like you said.

This is indeed a crazy season so far, I look forward to seeing how the rest of the games play out.  You have got to love MIAC football, and that's what these boards should be about.

They are definitely pissing in a different pot then the rest of the league. Do any other D3 schools have 2 campuses in 2 different cities?  They're the Eden Prairie or Wayzata of the MIAC (and everybody just loves them too!).  ;)

No advantage for Tommies to go D2.  They're not going anywhere.

Does St. Thomas plan to give up hockey? There's no D2 hockey and I think D1 hockey may be unreasonable.

Welcome Mr. Wartman- glad to have you onboard.
I had the opportunity to visit with your father prior to the game in Parking Lot "M"- he's a very nice man.
As of now they're on DOUBLE SECRET Probation!

PrideandPassion, Wellcome to the board.   Good to have you.   Hope you'll stick around.  This can be very entertaining.

Did you get the message I sent you?

Good point on the hockey. Not sure about that.

If they went to 10K undergrads, would the MIAC push for them to leave? Hard to imagine they would as I'm sure the interest and cash would be good for the conference. For the other schools, maybe not as much.

And who know, if this economy double-dips, maybe all private D3 schools will have a harder time getting any enrollment growth.

St. Thomas finally decided that football success was a priority.  They will not allow a slip back to mediocrity.  Should Caruso move on, for whatever reason, they will go  out and find the best possible coach out there.  Money and other resources will NOT be an issue.  They learned their lesson with Roney.  If that next guy doesn't do the job, he will gone.

Thinking other wise is delusional.  We all better get used to it.

Maybe Caruso will follow in the footsteps of the last coach who threatened to turn the Tommies into the dominant team, meaning he'll become, not the coach of the Gophers, but the athletic director, only to leave after his basketball coach gets caught up in a cheating scandal.

Up yours "Fluffy" I do believe that Mark Dienhart got caught up in the Clem Haskins scandal and please don't throw Glen Caruso into the same fishbowl.  Coach Caruso didn't threaten to turn my Tommies into a dominant team, he did turn us into a dominant team and made your Johnnies look irrelevant.

WTF is going on?  This poster was at negative K and I just put him to even.  Everything is getting a bit out of hand here.

Agreed. Some Johnnies fan apparently couldn't deal with it. Said person hasn't posted on this board in a couple weeks, though.

Unless faunch and ROR were hearing things that weren't said, someone around you was saying stuff to the SJU players, and unless you're hard of hearing, you would have heard it, too.
