BTW,

Just gotta say that this week has provided some of the best dialogue on our message board in years.

Surely we can end that in a hurry....

...There would've been 20,000+ people at the game if it were held in Collegeville.  ;)
Sing us a song, you're the piano man
Sing us a song tonight
Well, we're all in the mood for a melody
And you've got us feelin' alright.

Actually, it still would've only been 10,000. It's just that the Bennies look like two/three people.

I can laugh at this one because I'm dating a Tommie.

Obviously she didn't read the UST mission statement closely enough:

Inspired by Catholic intellectual tradition, the University of St. Thomas educates students to be morally responsible leaders who think critically, act wisely and work skillfully to advance the common good.

You know I kid.  :D

Gee Bench, if that is the standard on the corner of Cretin and Summit, how did you manage to get a degree?

This is just further proof that UST isn't much more than a flashy marketing campaign.  ;) The UST wind machine at work!

By the way, Bench, I miss hanging out at the tailgate events and having you steal my cow cup.

No doubt Sagatag. Whenever you get a break from defending my freedom I will make it up to you with some Hamm's straight from the udder of an actual cow.

It all balances out, of course, because they under count all the Tommie coeds that are waiting in line under the bleachers.

Unless faunch and ROR were hearing things that weren't said, someone around you was saying stuff to the SJU players, and unless you're hard of hearing, you would have heard it, too.

Says the guy who wasn't there. Why don't you let ROR and Faunch be the ones to challenge him, if anyone? Faunch has already removed his original post, so perhaps that's a cue as to what an appropriate response might be here.

Hey, Pat, thanks for the help.  Obviously, if I had been "there" under the new flying wing stands I could say so myself.  I'm not challenging PrideandPassion on what he said, but he only addressed part of it (and really, the issue has never been who).  It hardly seems unfair to inquire; he was there and can answer for himself, though anyone who was there can certainly answer as well.  Faunch has apologized for calling out specific people wrongfully, but so far as I can tell he hasn't said nothing was said.  If that's the case, though, he or ROR can say so, and that will clear this up.  And I was "there" at the game.  Indeed, I have some lovely pictures of the new stands and the crowd underneath.
First of all I want to thank Faunch for his apology it was very sincere and appreciated.
@Tmerton
This is getting quite humorous at this point.  Do you want me to say that at the Tommie/Johnnie rivalry game, or at any game in any sport for that matter there is not "heckling" of the opposing team? Of course there is, it's an athletic event and anywhere you go there will be fans that yell at games.  Coming from a player's standpoint, the yelling is embraced and expected especially at the collegiate level.  You are taught to be prepared for the yelling and the vulgar comments.  Also on that note as a player (i can't speak for everyone) heckling from opposing fans helped fuel me and push myself to play better.  If you want me to go into detail about how I was treated by fans coming out of the locker room at St. John's I will, but that is not relevant.  I am glad you have pictures of the fans, because pictures do not indicate audio as you should know.  I do not mean to come at you here, just thought this would help clear things up.

I think it is part of the atmosphere, having College students let the opposing team know what they think, "heckling."
As for adults-non-college students-alumni "heckling" college players-not so much, especially DIII.

My name is USTBench, and I am a heckler.

I'm not proud of myself, but sometimes I see a Johnnie and I have to let him know that the girls at his sister-school are morbidly obese or that he probably had his first kiss with his freshman roommate. It's sick, and I can't help myself.

The other day I saw about 60 of them dressed in football attire. They intimated that they were members of the SJU Johnnie football team, but certainly this couldn't be, as they were losing 49 - 0 at halftime. So, as they were entering the locker room I said, quite loudly, "If you're indeed who you say you are, you quite clearly the the worst SJU team in John Gagliardi's long and celebrated career" (paraphrased).

As it turns out, they really were the SJU football team. Sorry guys. Boy do I have egg on my face.

Tagline on SJU56321's profile...kind of funny since it's right above your post.
They'll be judged by if they move the ball and score," said Johnnies coach John Gagliardi, who begins his record 63rd season as a collegiate head coach (59th at St. John's) with 478 career victories — the most in college football history.
