I'll take the Fritz.
If memory serves, didn't the Fritz and the Wall miss last year's playoff game?

Not the whole game. He got knocked out in the 1st half by some seriously physical play by the BU Defense. But he played the whole game earlier in the year last year and was held to something like 2 catches.

That said, our CB's will need to play their best game to date to repeat the way we played against the UST passing attack last year.

Was there for Whitney Young and Maine South last year.
Did you happen to know a guy named Evangelides?
Will make sure to wear my SJU gear on saturday for all to see.  :)

I do not know a Evangelides, no.
That MS game last year was obnoxious. I hope Holecek and crew get a shot a redeeming that one this go around. Get there early on Saturday, should be a large crowd out there for that. Bring home a W for the Ramblers.

Print up some businesses cards that say SJU Chicago Catholic League Recruiting Coordinator and spread them around.  ;)

Given your Rockford avatar, a great suggestion! (But would that make Zip Lance White or Angel Martin?)

Ha.  I just read the last six pages.  Classic.

6000 years from now when archaeologists dig up and decode the server this board runs on there will be wave of sympathy for Mr MIAC the same as people feel for Douglas after he was manhandled by Lincoln.

Sounds romantic, but your ignorance of history is breathtaking.  Lincoln didn't manhandle Douglas; rather Douglas was the immediate beneficiary of the debates and the real advantage to Lincoln was the fact that the whole process raised his profile.

Very few of the SJU fans/alumni on this board provide anything that resembles a well thought out, logical argument in regards to UST.  Few comments over the last six pages would disprove this point.  It's all a bunch of "Tommies suck"..."unique calling to Collegeville"..."mystique of Clemens Field" BS that make those up at SJU feel good about their small place in the world, but to the rest of us looks a little sad.

I normally wouldn't want to rain on anyone's parade, but you all need to get over it.  I know that football up at SJU is a big deal...when you've got something that works and little else, go with what works.  However, the idea that you can outdo someone without providing a substantive argument is flawed.  To claim some sort of victory on the matter is simply delusional.  If you think you can make a good argument, go for it.  For too long the SJU folks have had their way with this board...the times they are a changing.

Thank-you, hazzben.
I respect the Fritz even though we could neutralize him in 2009. Guys like him can come through big time, any time (dare I mention the name?) like B. Elliott.

Despite the esteem in which you hold yourself, Mr MIAC, you are most certainly not the model for well though out, logical argument.  Your claims to intellectual superiority, while no doubt self-satisfying and utterly self-convincing, are embarassingly unpersuasive and as thin as the emperor's clothes you pitifully try to hide your loyalties behind with the handle you claimed.

And as to LD debates, need I point out that your rebuttal is non-responsive to the point of posterity's judgement?  As a simple exercise, answer which name is listed first when the debates are named.

Shiny buildings and new locker rooms may buy football success, but that's as far as the assistance goes, it seems.

Looks like a pretty nice day for a game in St. Peter tomorrow at a beautiful stadium.  It could be a pretty competitive game, which has been a rarity between SJU and GAC recently.  I'd make the drive if we didn't have the little one to bring with.

I love how as soon as someone unintentionally breaks up the SJU lovefest you guys quickly resort to ad hominem attacks.  To be clear I never claimed intellectual superiority and as to the persuasiveness of my arguments, they probably won't get far with you guys because much of the SJU audience on this board is biased to the point that they seem to have blinders on (or else their life is ordered by being a SJU fan and must reject anything that doesn't conform to the predetermined narrative).

On Lincoln/Douglas, you're wrong on the posterity's judgement point.  There's no widespread feeling of sympathy for Douglas today because there need not be.   Historians don't argue that Lincoln won the debates; if anything, Douglas came out the winner and is recognized as such.  Douglas was an effective and well-respected politician well after the debates.  Lincoln later capitalized on the debates through publication.  His profile rose because he was part of the debates, not because he is perceived to have won them.  Why is Lincoln listed first?  As a simple exercise, answer who later went on to become President of the United States.

My time at UST was before the shiny new building and locker rooms, but if you're ever in the DC/NY area we can get together for a beer and maybe talk academic/professional careers.  Armed with the facts, you can then come to some sort of conclusion on how far the UST assistance went... :)

The Lincoln/Douglas debates might be stretching it. Maybe the two Gallagher brothers suing each other over the use of the giant watermelon mallet in terms of significance.
