Thank-you, hazzben.
I respect the Fritz even though we could neutralize him in 2009. Guys like him can come through big time, any time (dare I mention the name?) like B. Elliott.

Fritz has certainly earned plenty of respect. And you're correct, he's the type of player that is never more than one step, juke or cut away from a huge, game changing play.

Personally, I think Tobin might be the most dangerous Tommie. D. Tracey is a very good qb and can make plays with his legs when he needs to. Waldvogel can hurt you through the air or the return game and can stretch the field. But Tobin has developed into a very good running back that consistently picks up yards and scores when UST needs it.

Looks like a pretty nice day for a game in St. Peter tomorrow at a beautiful stadium.  It could be a pretty competitive game, which has been a rarity between SJU and GAC recently.  I'd make the drive if we didn't have the little one to bring with.

Never stopped me..... and it won't tomorrow.

Loud noises!

Hazzben,

In a game against Bethel/Linfield I'd have to say you're right, that Tobin is probably our most dangerous/effective weapon.

If you put a physical CB on Fritz it may take him out of his element just long enough to where a team that can pressure Dakota will have success limiting the passing game. I think this year, it's all going to be a matter of what a DB can do to Fritz in the first 5 yards. If you can chicken fight with him, jam him, or knock him off his route, then UST will probably spend more time running between the tackles than developing an intermediate/long passing game.

That being said, UST has also had more random WRs step up this year than in past years. It's kind of the, "Okay, their goal is to take Fritz out, let's see who else feels like having a 100yds receiving today" approach. That, or Dakota will just take off running.

What are your thoughts on Aaron Terell-Byrd?  He's had a number of solid runs the past few weeks...his size and cuts remind me a little bit of a young Barry Sanders.

Agreed. You can't be referring to yourself, Mr. MIAC, because you have come in clearly intending to ruffle feathers.

By the way, we're not big fans of intentional rabble-rousing here. It would be great if you could participate without having to stir the hornets' nest. Most of the other UST fans seem to be able to manage that.

Well, you're a better fan than I, then.  Next year, no problem, but with a 5 week old, it sounds like more than I want to deal with.

I look forward to seeing Barry Sanders Jr.  With him on the team I guess we fan move the Catholic Bowl up by 20 years.

Noted.  However, I do want to point out that my initial post was a serious assessment of topics on this board--the MIAC, UST, and SJU.  I was immediately subjected to a barrage of ad hominem attacks (e.g. smarmy, pretentious, cowardly, self-proclaimed intellectual, etc.) in lieu of a substantive response to my assessment.  My feather ruffling ensued only after the prolonged SJU gang tackle.  Perhaps most other UST fans can forgo rabble-rousing, but how many do you think simply don't participate because some other members forcefully attack those expressing an uncomfortable opinion.

Mr. MIAC--I'll back you up on this. I was on board for your inaugural posting to this site, and thought it to be a neutral inquiry. Then, after a little reading between the lines and some mildly accusatory responses, you got a bit defensive...then the venom came out. In essence, you got sucked in, as have many posters before you.

I like the thought behind your posts, and strongly welcome you to the board. It has certainly gotten more colorful the past few days. Take off your gloves, take a deep breath and have some fun before you have a stroke or something.

Mr. Me I Am Cool:

You came on here with an initial post with very few facts and a bunch of opinions.  You told all us rubes about the ascendance of St. Thomas and the inevitable sinking of St. John's into mediocrity and irrelevance.  You're just smart enough not to make obvious inflammatory statements but not smart enough to expose your real objective.

No need to dispute opinions with facts.

I've been pissed in the past about how St. John's posters have run guys off this board.  In your case, I'm open to making an exception.

I tried to respond to you with a little humor, which is the way we generally most effectively self police around here.  Perhaps I'm not as cleaver as I think I am.  Didn't work with you.

I love your last post:  "I was just walking by and then they started it.  Waah waah.  Man up and admit you made a terrible first impression and only continue to compound it.

Go back and read Corn Horn's post.  If you'd like to play with us on that basis, stick around  If not, go hit your gold paved bricks.
