Congrats to St. Thomas.  You guys have a very, very solid team this year.  I'm looking forward to your matchup against one of the big purple teams.  Best of luck the rest of the MIAC season, and in the playoffs.

This makes the loss against olaf really unfortunate.  As Hazzben said, they seemed to be figuring things out on offense, so it will be a shame not having 2 solid MIAC teams in the playoffs.

If they can get by that other purple team from Oregon.

My favorite part of Frank's article this morning:

"The problem is that all three of us have things that we're good at and things we're not so good at," said Ries, who has been vying with sophomores Connor Bruns and Ben Krebsbach all season.
"Connor has a big arm. Ben has great wheels. I can manage a game. But we don't have a guy who brings the complete package."

I have this bad feeling when next season rolls around SJU isn't going to be any closer in finding a standout QB, I sure hope I am wrong.

Mr.MIAC

Hats off to BU for a hard-fought and well-played game.  I was on the edge of my seat the entire second half, especially after the BU touchdown and a few UST punts.

The other day people had mixed views on the UST/BU rivalry and whether it would continue to grow.  I listened to Coach Caruso on the WCCO postgame.  He sounded more emotional than at any point this season when he talked about the rivalry and the win.  A few more battles like this and the rivalry will have real legs, which is great because the matchup brings together such contrasting styles on the field and two great coaching staffs dedicated to their players.

If St. Olaf wins out, they should have a good shot to make the field. I hope they make it and I hope they play well. It only makes the MIAC better to have teams gain playoff experience. And what makes the MIAC better makes the MIAC representatives in the postseason better, IMO.

I'm firmly on the St. Olaf and UST bandwagons from here on out. I want them both in the field and I want them making noise for the conference.

SUMMIT!!!!!

was at the game at BU yesterday.....excellent atmosphere, felt like a playoff game (which is many ways it was for Bethel). Typical BU football-- gritty, determined, hard-hitting, "in your face"....and UST was every bit as dogged and pugnacious. Great chess match between 2 brilliant coaching minds. Its a shame BU has little to no chance of making the playoffs, but as a UST alum/fan, I am glad we dont have to worry about running into BU in the playoffs.

I for one am still confused by Olaf...they looked SO puttid vs UST that I left at half, as the rout was embarrassing. I wrote off their win over Bethel as luck, but cant do that with yesterday's win at Auggie. Still, they need to win out to make the playoff field.

One more win and UST clinches the MIAC title and playoff slot. Wth GAC and Car remaining on the schedule, I'd say 10-0 looks awfully attainable.
After the game, the king and pawn go into the same box.

You shouldn't have to worry about this if Olaf goes 9-1.

Very true, but (perhaps incorrectly) I guess I just don't look at Olaf as being any more than a 1 and done in the playoffs.  Like Hazzben, I'm all aboard the UST bandwagon for the playoffs.  I'm very impressed w/ their style of play, and in particular Dakota Tracy.  He seemed much more willing to take off and make plays on his own yesterday than he was in the 2 games vs BU last year.  He was a big part of UST's big first half.

You will be singing a different tune when Concordia beats BU this week and STO the following week!  I am hoping the cobbers will be able to contain BU running game and their playbook full of trick plays!

Them's fightin' words.

I don't see Concordia beating BU, but stranger things have happened. I still maintain BU is a better squad than STO, just not on the Saturday when it mattered. Either way, BU is done losing, but I could see STO stumbling.

They've still got SJU on their schedule, and as HS as SJU is this year, I still think they could beat the Oles.

Slow day, I should say something controversial.

Ramler will lock up the SJU job and his second conference win on Saturday.

I'll be interested to see how Bethel closes out the season.  A couple of legitimate opponents ahead in Cord and Augsburg, and I'm wondering if they're going to have the same resolve now that a playoff spot is out of the question.

A very Roneyesque dilemma.

I remember our last game of the 2002 season we were all on the practice field on a Thursday after giving up 700 yards of offense to SJU the weekend before. At the time we were 5 - 4, and Roney gathered us all around and morosely asked "5 - 5?" And bunch of guys rabbled a negative guffaw. Then he said "6 - 4" which resulted in a positive "hey!" And then "5 - 5?" NAHHH! "6 - 4?" Heeyyy! That was our pep talk before the season ending MIAC Dome Day.

We lost to Concordia 63 to 21.
