So it may be a little early, but with a few games left (and my Johnnies so far out of the hunt) I'm already starting to think about playoffs.

Using Pat's Regional Rankings (Thanks Pat!) here's how I see it shaking out.
As always, thoughts & opinions are greatly appreciated. Conference auto-bids are in parenthesis

The committee moves Whitewater to the North as they have done the last few years.

#1 UST (MIAC)
#8 St. Scholastica (UMAC)

#4 St. Olaf
#5 Dubuque (IIAC)

#3 Cal Lute (SCIAC)
#6 Redlands

#7 UW Oskosh
#2 Linfield (NWC)

Last team in- UW Oskosh
1st team out- Wartburg

Rationale: 1 flight in the 1st round, 0 in the second (assuming rankings hold). 1 for the final.
St. Olaf ranked over Dubuque on Regional record and SOS
Oskosh gets in on SOS over Wartburg
Redlands makes a case for 3 left coast teams. Lewis & Clark may be undefeated, but a weak SOS means they're watching from the stands

It's certainly too early to be writing St. Olaf in. After tomorrow they have two matchups that are anything but "gimmes". As much as I'd like to see two MIAC teams in the playoffs, I predict an Ole stumble and no 2-loss MIAC teams in postseason.

So, for the F-M rubes: Concordia v. Bethel or NDSU v. UNI? Both should be good games.

Well Bench, I'm not a true F-M rube, but I know a few. Both sides of the river have loyal followers, and I suspect the Fargodome and the Jake will both be well packed. However, the true Red River Valley rubes should be planning rock the Jake in Moorhead at 1:00, then when satisfied, heading to NDSU, as that game has a 2:30 start.

I'm thinking the Concordia / Bethel game should be an exciting one, but I'll have to follow the audio feed here in the cities. Too bad...from the stands I could blur my eyes and pretend it's Notre Dame at Boston College. (Yes, I'm referring to posts several pages back).

I am clueless as to what that refernce could be.

I've also heard that if no one told you Georgetown was a Jesuit Catholic university, you'd think it was secular.

And it's not just the lack of crucifixes in the classrooms.

ND has a crucifix in every classroom and a chapel in every dormitory.  Good thing it's not in DC.

(The two primary destinations for students at my little Catholic high school in Oklahoma were ND and Georgetown, so the bickering back and forth has been going on for years where I come from.  The Georgetown main undergraduate library (Lauinger) is named after a guy in my brother's class, a year ahead of me, who died in 'Nam; yet his brother, who also attended Georgetown, sent ALL of his children to ND because he didn't consider the Hoyas sufficiently Catholic.  You just gotta love this stuff.)

The extra sad thing (coming from the perspective of an unashamed Catholic) is that these schools are taking the crucifixes down of their own volition. The ACLU just had to think about looking at these schools with a suspicious eye and the crucifixes came down.
This is thanks to weak-kneed Catholics that cower (misguidedly so) to gain the approval of the politically correct, secular world around them.
Great point Sam. All this P.C. crap has led to,among other things, not being able to wish your customers in a business setting, Merry Christmas for fear of "offending" someone. I, for one, am offended if someone wishes me "Happy Holidays" instead of Merry Christmas. But I guess the opinion of a white, male, middle-aged guy doesn't count any longer in America.  ???
As of now they're on DOUBLE SECRET Probation!

You're missing the MWC champ. They've got to end up somewhere as well. They could get shipped North, but then you've got 2 West teams in the North. I'm thinking we might see a West Coast - South Region matchup this time around.

Solid win for Bethel at Concordia today. Nice to see them bounce back after the tough UST loss.

Number of the game: 3

3 total penalties between the teams, which is really a pretty rare statistic. 3 turnovers for Concordia that killed them in the end.

SUMMIT!!!!!

congrats to UST as they officially clinch the MIAC playoff spot and at least a share of the league title. Now to take care of business in Northfield next week, heal/rest on the bye and storm into the playoffs.

They're in great shape right now.

Salisbury's loss to Wesley brings us one step closer to Mount Union getting moved out East again. Clearing the way for Whitewater to the North and UST to get a #1 seed in the West.

Just talked to my favorite cousin in West Des Moines. For the second year in a row he asked me to make sure we feed Floyd well.

Hats off to Bethel on a hard-fought and well-played game today in Moorhead. Yeah...I wonder what would have happened but for the Concordia fumble in the red zone toward the end of the first half. It was an exciting game to the end. Cheers for Mike Dunham, who became the Cobbers all-time career passing yardage leader today.

Finally, congrats to NDSU (#1) and U of M, who gets to keep the pig while getting the monkey of its back.

Now let's see if the Tommies can do something we haven't done since the late 40's...back-to-back conference titles. Also, the gopher game was a blast
