When I was a youngster I thought all Catholics had to go to Mass today because it was my birthday. Now I know that it's because it's John Gagliardi's birthday.  ;D

Well, happy birthday to you, too!

A tradition unrivaled...

I have plenty of co-workers with the same jobs that went to cheaper state schools, and even one or two that went to UST (I guess they don't all move to Washington DC to rule large corporations  :o ).

How dare you question the UST Wind Machine?!?!?!  ;D

Happy birthday to John Gagliardi!  Congratulations!

Retired Old Rat

Happy Birthday John Gagaliardi and 57'.  I'm sure a victory on Saturday would be an acceptable birthday gift for both.

We know UST is in the playoffs for sure.  What are the chances that both STO and BU get into the playoffs with wins this weekend?

Has a single conference ever had 3 playoff teams in the current playoff format?

Pat you may know the answer to these questions.

GoldandBlueBU

I may be wrong, but I believe BU is all but technically fully eliminated.   :P

Zero. But remember they have another weekend. If they win out, chances are only slightly more than zero.

Yes, just once. And that was in a three-way tie situation with the worst of the three getting the AQ via tiebreaker.

I feel BU still has a chance!  STO losses both games, (word is QB is hurt for Olaf) and BU wins both.  BU will continue to stay in the ranks, leapfrog STO, and the comittee will take into consideration BU's playoff history and how close they played UST.  Just my thoughts!

If I was a Johnnie fan and it was my team that's exactly how I'd be thinking.... but then again I'm not very smart either...  :-\

The Johnnies just scored another touchdown to make it 47 - 7.

Looks like we won't be getting Kim Kardashian up to the Stiftungsfestivities ever!! :'( Then again, as long as we have Red Hot Bennie in attendance, how could we do any better!! 8-) Hopefully we will have a great turn out from the Ole fans this Saturday at the tailgate party.

STO's games are anything but gimmes. @SJU and home against Concordia could very well put them at 7 - 3 looking up at Bethel. As for Bethel, Augsburg is not quite a guarantee when it's played at the Metrodome, but I think they win by 10+. As for poor Hamline, I wouldn't be surprised if Bethel put up 80 just to prove a point. Honestly speaking, I think STO stumbles against either SJU or Concordia and both teams wind up 8 - 2.

The way I look at is this:

UST and UW-Whitewater are in.

St. Scholastica and Monmouth are probably in (St. Scholastica's games are winnable and Monmouth's remaining game is un-losable)

so that's 4

Then you got two undefeateds in the NWC, Linfield and Lewis and Clark who have yet to play each other. So that's 5 for the West if someone doesn't get bumped out of the West.

Then you have Dubuque and Coe out of the IIAC. One or the other will make it, but definitely not both, as Coe has 3 losses and Dubuque has one. So that's 6.

Then Cal Lutheran and Redlands out of the SCIAC has yet to be determined. 7

So that leaves these potential teams for spot number 8, if the D3football regions shake out the way they're listed on the website for the NCAA playoffs:

Illinois College
Redlands
Cal Lutheran
Westminster (Ha!)
Lewis and Clark
Linfield
Bethel
St. Olaf

if Lewis and Clark plays Linfield tough I'd say they'd get a nod, and then I'd have to go with Redlands or STO if they win out.

The above is pure speculation and could very well be disproven by Pat Coleman.

Finsleft,

I thought "Mauering" would just be a picture of someone sitting in a whirlpool with $20 million splayed about.

Time for a mid-season commercial?  I saw this Toyota Hilux ad on the weekend and it gave me a good chuckle.
