Just listened to a quick news drop on some new movie with Naomi Watts.  Poor thing talked about the sacrifices she had to make in order to pocket that $10m check.  Apparently the kids had to stay behind with dad while she was on set filming.  Can you believe that?  Having to travel for weeks on end and leaving the kids behind?

Does anyone ever really feel any sympathy for these narcissistic Hollywood types?  I think I may never pay to watch a movie at the cinemas again.

I don't know, Oz. With this policy of not giving your money to any industry that has unsympathetic  narcissistic types, I see a future for you where you never buy another car, CD, computer, coffee, fast-food burger, pen, toilet paper, jeans, shirts, underwear, shoes, swimsuit, soda, hat, cell phone plan, magazine, book, jewelry or pizza.

She should come complain to my drill sergeants here at Delta Company, most of whom are Staff Sergeants (E-6) with 6-10 years experience, getting paid $45,000/yr (on average), and have served anywhere from 2-4 deployments that have ranged from 12-18 months per deployment.
OH, and now they are on drill sergeant status, so they work 20 hour days, 6 days a week (plus 6-8 hours on Sundays), and they don't get federal holidays (like this Veterans Day or Thanksgiving) off work....

...I'd be willing to take out a substantial loan from a loan shark just to make a bet that she wouldn't make it out of that conversation alive.

Is it any wonder that college graduates are grammatically challenged, when the Governor of Texas who wants to be President says this:
"This ain't a day for quitting nothing."

Try parsing that one.

10 Wartburg 7-2 7-2

Can't say I understand putting Wartburg ahead of Bethel or Olaf.  Same record, worse strength of schedule.  Comparing results against common regional opponents, Wartburg beat Gustavus 26-21, while Bethel beat them 41-27 and Olaf 44-26.  Wartburg lost to Simpson 38-37, while Bethel beat them 55-3 and Olaf 31-23.  St. Olaf has also beaten Wartburgs next opponent, Luther.  Wartburg has a win over Dubuque, but that would hardly seem to outweigh the obvious comparisons of common opponents and overall strength of schedule.

The likely explanation is in bold.  A Wartburg loss to Luther would help all MIAC parties concerned, IMO.

They also have a win over Monmouth, another RRO

... because it would very much help UST's case to be a #1 over Linfield (I assume Mount is going east, UWW is going north, UMHB is in the south and the west is between UST and the 'Cats).

What difference does it really make? SJU beat (shocked is more like it) the Cats in the Catdome in 02 & then froze the Cats in The Natural Bowl in 03- you have to beat the best to be the best. Anyone, any place, anytime if you want to be called champions. 8-)

Are you serious? (Not rhetorical, I can't tell if you are being sarcastic).  The difference, if you are being serious, is the 4 hour flight, hotel room, time zone change, etc... i.e. the not being on your home-field-in-your-home-state-with-your-home-fans factor.  Obviously you have to beat the best to be the best, but why'nthehell wouldn't you want to do it in the comforts of home rather than on the west coast?  To think it doesn't make a difference is, in a word, poppycock.

PLU won the Stagg Bowl in 1999 with every game on the road & as Duff mentioned- SJU was runner-up in 2000 with every game on the road.
If you're good enough, you will win any where, any time. ::)
As of now they're on DOUBLE SECRET Probation!

Who knows, maybe Whitewater will be a 2 seed again and be on the road.

If UWW stays in the West, the committee has no choice but to make them a #2 seed, that's why there is a good chance they will be moved to the North.  ;)

I was going to respond to that but then I noticed the winking guy.

I'm just not sure what the committee will make of Delaware Valley if they remain undefeated.  If they think they're worthy of a 1 seed then I would expect UMU to remain in the north and WW to remain in the west.  If they don't see them worthy of the seeding then the two others are likely to be moved (again).

I don't know.  I played quite a few road playoff games and quite a few home playoff games.  There is something to be said for playing at home, but I really enjoyed the road games.  It kind of made things seem more special, and there are less distractions (just you and your teammates in a hotel).  Plus, if you're going to win it all, you're going to have to win on the road (i.e. Salem).

Duff and his mates on the road and #winning!

I'm a conservative. I'm so thrilled by the opportunities presented me in 2012.

The problem with elections is that no matter who you vote for the government still gets in.

Let Deleware Valley be the #1 seed.  They seem to have confidence and a freshman QB that seems to be pretty good.

When was the last time a #1 seed lost a 1st round playoff game?

Not exactly.  But I can remember some guys playing Risk for days.  Also, a homerun derby in a parking lot in Abilene.
