When was the last time a #1 seed lost a 1st round playoff game?

If I remember correctly, it was '09.

Coe at St. John's?

Unless it happened last year.

No, all No 1's made it safely to the quarterfinals last year.

I don't know.  I played quite a few road playoff games and quite a few home playoff games.  There is something to be said for playing at home, but I really enjoyed the road games.  It kind of made things seem more special, and there are less distractions (just you and your teammates in a hotel).  Plus, if you're going to win it all, you're going to have to win on the road (i.e. Salem).

Duff and his mates on the road and #winning!

Times have changed, the hockey players depicted here look more like my EP 14U girls team....

Let Deleware Valley be the #1 seed.  They seem to have confidence and a freshman QB that seems to be pretty good.

When was the last time a #1 seed lost a 1st round playoff game?

According to SUADC it should either be Delaware Valley or the 2007 Bethel team.

Lest We Forget

In Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.

We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved, and now we lie,
In Flanders fields.

Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders fields.

Very nice and big pick-up for St. Thomas football and basketball team today - get a commitment from David Simmet of Hill Murray.

David Simmet, 6'9 295, OL, Hill-Murray (4A) - Receiving recruiting interest from and will be attending camps at Minnesota and Wisconsin. Starting offensive lineman as a freshman, sophomore, and junior. Starting on Hill-Murray basketball team and averaging 13.7 ppg.

I'd be willing to bet Hill-Murray head coach and Grand Forks native (and HS teammate to USTBench) Brooks Bollinger will be funneling this gigantic child to his alma mater, Wisconsin.

Although, former UST coach (and teammate to USTBench in college) Joe Lepsche is now a defensive coordinator at Hill Murray...so who knows?

David actually announced today that he will attend St. Thomas and play both football and basketball.  Today was the early national signing day for college basketball, and even though the early signing period has nothing to do with D3, he must have wanted to announce his choice and get recruiters off of his back.  He has been getting some D1 attention and a ton of D2 attention, but choose St. Thomas - go figure.

What are they feeding kids up on the Hill?    I'd be interested to see Mr. Simmet in the prep bowl if they can get past faribault and rocori.

I understand there is a movie in production "Six Degrees of Separation from UST Bench"
Kevin Bacon will play the part of UST Bench. Brooks Bollinger will appear as himself & Brock Lesnar will play Joe Lepsche.  8-)
As of now they're on DOUBLE SECRET Probation!

A big thank you today to all armed forces veterans who have sacrificed for us!  We are forever indebted to you.

On a related note, has anyone else been watching "Vietnam in HD" on the History Channel?  I highly recommend it!  The wife and I are really enjoying it.  Her dad spent time in Vietnam.  He's no longer with us and never talked about it, so it's giving her some insight on the things he went through.

A tradition unrivaled...

Hey folks. As promised, my shameless plug, a Q&A with Pat Coleman. You might have to cancel a coffee break to carve out enough time to read. Hope you enjoy.

it is an awesome program, typical History Channel fare (disclaimer: my employer partners with History Channel). I lost an uncle and cousin (who was like a big brother to me) to Nam.

Duff- Id recommend you & the missus (and anyone interested) take in the exhibit "1968" at the MN History Center-- the parts of it relating to Nam are powerfully done!

also, my thanks to all veterans too, especially those who paid the ultimate price for our freedoms! God bless!!!!!!

Glad to do it for those who appreciate it. 8-)

Have watched some of the Vietnam series this week.  Probably going on my Christmas list.  Very well done.
