So...UST couldn't ask for a better bracket.

I'm really hoping they get to play Delaware Valley. I have a point to prove to SUADC.

I'm hoping IWU keeps you from that date!  We'll make the point for you, OK? ;D

Well, UST has to beat that nursing school from Duluth, and IWU has to beat something called Monmouth first. But I'll let the coaches worry about the cliched "one game at a time." I just want someone to put a Monkey Stomp on Delaware Valley.

Yup - fans get to look ahead all they want! ;)

Though even this fan is not really 'looking ahead' - that 'something called Monmouth' includes a QB who holds the all-time d3 passing completion and passing TDs records (and our defense is super, but even better against the run than the pass).

Monmouth didn't impress me in '09. But, it's a different year I guess.

I have little doubt that IWU is overall the better team, but super QBs (especially in d3) scare me in the playoffs (see for example Chad Rupp for Franklin in 2008(?) or Eric Watt for Trine in recent years), and Tanney is now a senior (unlike when you saw him).  I think we will win, but I'm nervous he'll do one of those 5-6 TD explosions.

Mr. Ypsi

BTW, I'd apologize for taking over your board for a CCIW/MWC tilt, but (unless UST gets stunned in Round 1) I'm giving you previews for Round 2! ;)

Unfortunately, I bet that the doc's from Johns Hopkins throw out their scalpels and get medieval on Delaware Valley in round two (or St. John's fisher does; either way, I don't think we'll face the Aggies).

Wow, from the player quotes in this article, you'd think that the Johnnies had beaten someone much bigger than hamline...

Interesting stat, Carleton's leader in all-purpose yards this year (and third leading scorer) didn't play a single offensive snap.  Not good for the offense.

Are you referring to the vindication quote from Fischer?
Other than that quote, I don't see any quotes that make it sound like they beat one of the giants of the MIAC.
Sing us a song, you're the piano man
Sing us a song tonight
Well, we're all in the mood for a melody
And you've got us feelin' alright.

Yeah, that one, and I thought that the comment about being "bigger, stronger and faster" reflected something that you wouldn't think that a SJU player would ever have needed to point out in a game against hamline.  Maybe their expectations of themselves have been lowered?

You also need to take into account the context.  SJU expects to play deep into the playoffs each year.  Missing the playoffs two years in a row is mind numbing to the those of us with red tinted glasses.  This puts a lot of pressure on these young men.  This season was looking like an unmitigated disaster after Bethel.  These young me sucked it up and won four games in a row to salvage a respectable (in our small college worldview) season.  Especially for the seniors.  These guys really hung in and got better every week after the debacle on Summit.

Congratulations the young men of St. John's football.  You should be very proud of the way you regrouped to finish out on a four game winning streak.  Speaks to your strong character.

Thank you to the seniors for representing SJU so well on and off the field.  Looking forward to you joining in on the pre-game tailgating next year and cheering on the Johnnies from the other side of the white line.

Not denying that at all...It just strikes me as sentiment that I woudln't have ever expected to hear expressed from an SJU player.

Being someone who has only really followed d3 since the early 2000's, it seemed to me like St John's was always going to be a fixture at the top of the MIAC.  I'm not trying to be insulting at all, just pointing out that from my short history of following d3, I didn't ever think there was going to be a time when johnnies would get that pumped up about a win over hamline.
