There's probably some CSS lurkers, but it might take Mr. MIAC to get them to come out.  I don't expect them to get close to the Tommies, but crazier things have happened.
Some quick facts:
-1100 Males go to Scholastica --hasn't been all-female since 1970
-Sansevere interviewed Carlson for the east-side fish-wrap factory today
-Their practice field has a nice view of the lake

-They use a bulldog as a mascot
-There have been worse 10-0 teams, but I can't name any off the top of my head.

Is that a ski jump to the right of the building?  Very cool.

That it is. I used to live down the street from CSS and even closer to UMD, which used to be a great MIAC member back when I was at SJU. A variety of ski jumps could be found at a place called Chester Bowl.

Love Duluth. Great town. And if you ever play golf there never forget that putts break toward the lake ....

Did the NCAA committee NOT get the memo?   8-)

Where is Mr. MIAC to comment on this obvious national slight?

Personally, I think UST should have been a #1 seed.  I guess they will have a chance to prove that in the next three weeks.

Are we certain they're not a #1 seed? UST's Doug Hennes has them listed in an article as being a 1 seed.

Delaware Valley is the Number 1 seed. But since they won't make it past Johns Hopkins, I'm not too worried.

Some people would bitch if their ice cream was cold

Someday I'll explain the difference between bitching and what I just wrote there. And if you haven't had a seizure, I'll explain the appropriate place to use that analogy. Of course, you could just go on the fishwrap websites and bitch about UST like you're wont to do.

Well, if Doug has the Tomcats listed as a #1, then is must be true   ;)

Kind of splitting hairs I guess, huh? Hey sjusection105, congrats on the strong finish to the season! Could you do me a favor and keep me posted on the Johns off season conditioning program? I'm really interested to hear how that's going! Good luck.  ;)

The point is that it doesn't matter, #1 seed or #8 seed- you're still in the dance. If you (more accurately the UST FB team) gets hung up on seeding they are doomed. What good did the high seed do last year? The Bethel squad who couldn't pass & didn't have a kicker beat the Tomcats on their home turf. Anyone can get on a roll this time of year and it doesn't matter their # seed- Look at 1999 PLU & 2000 SJU squads- took the road to Salem as 7 & 8 seeds. Get it done on the field.
As of now they're on DOUBLE SECRET Probation!

Pat Coleman

SJU was a 7 seed ... there were only 28 teams in 2000.

Wasn't addressing your highness's post and shouldn't have included it.  Also I'm not one to wont to bitch about ust in the fishwraps.

Well... I was al excited that I was home today to see the Vikes play the Pack and here comes a punt return for seven. Man.  The Vikings sure suck.

But, they still deserve a taxpayer funded Taj Mahal of a football stadium!

This is why I have been reluctant to watch ANY Vikings football since the mid 2000s.

So I'll make a few points since the last few pages seem to have a lot to do with me rather than football:

1. Seeding for UST doesn't really matter much because unless there is some cosmic shift, they will likely get to the semifinals
2. A few folks on this board, mostly folks from SJU, mistake analysis for "sweeping generalizations." My general assessment is that this helps explain the lack of complex sentence structure amongst this crowd
3. I'm not sure how UST will do in the playoffs, but it is likely they'll make a championship run and face some tough competition from one of the other purple teams—maybe too much competition
4. Based on what I've just heard about the UST recruiting class for next year, they will likely be in good shape for some time to come
5. The MIAC has plenty of great schools and each fill their niche.  UST is not the best at everything, but it does have the best overall athletics program by far
6. I was talking to a guy at a party in DC recently and he grew up in MN.  He went to Princeton for undergrad, but when the UST/SJU football rivalry came up he had one memory of SJU.  In a word...rubes (and something a lot more harsh but inappropriate for this forum) .  Keep in mind that this is not my characterization and I think there are plenty of good hardworking, salt of the earth folks that come out of SJU.  They used to be really good at football...

Austin Murphy's Facebook post about his weekend in Minnesota:

Grim news out of State College inspired me to return to Minnesota to celebrate the career and philosophy of the OTHER bespectacled, octogenarian Italian-American coach with 400-plus career wins. (See this weeks' Scorecard Essay in SI.) After I explained the angle to John Gagliardi, he said, "Geez, I'm not even sure what an octegenarian is. Sounds like some kind of gasoline."

This made me laugh, such humility.  ::)

I always thought humility was one of the core tenants of being a Tommie. It's part of their slogan if I am remembering correctly: "Challenge yourself. Change our world. Advertise to the world with blaring trumpets how humble you are."

...that sounds about right.

Being from UST, you're apparently impressed by DC cocktail chatter from Princeton undergrads, almost as much as you're impressed with your own views.  You truly give new meaning to the term blowhard.
