I'm not a psychologist, nor do I play one on TV, but Mr MIAC seems to be trying so hard to display a superior intellect, he must have deficiencies in other areas. Now, I will leave to determine just what they are.

By the way, you don't make someone richer by making someone else poorer.

It's a good thing you're not a psychologist.  You seem to consider thoughtful analysis and the occasional jab as an attempt at displaying superior intellect.  I didn't know this board was only allowed to accept the base comments of knuckle-draggers.  If so, one might ask why we're all here.  And though I understand the spirit of your message, technically you do make someone richer by making someone else poorer.

I agree with Bench and Duffman....

Since Bench and I have opposing views, I don't think you do.  ;)

I realize that I am in the minority here.  Oh well.
Do Wayzata fans pull for Hopkins in the state basketball tournament every year?  Do Hopkins fans pull for EP or Wayzata in the state football championship every damn year?
Call my selfish but I won't cheer for UST, BU or any other MIAC school in the playoffs.

The enemy of my enemy is my friend.
This Wayzata fan likes watching Hopkins play basketball. Wayzata and EP fans know best about dealing with people who make BS recruiting/cheating complaints.

The friendly rivalries do not extend to D-1 football or the NFL.  Too many bridges have been burned on the eastern border.

Same thing happens in Grand Forks for high school hockey. People have meltdowns over the mere suggestion of having to adhere to district lines or possibly redrawing them.

Open enrollment has created a bit of a class war/recruiting war when it comes to sports.

Fargo Shanley had a similar accusations labored against them back in the 50s/60s when they were one of the best HS football programs in the nation (Had some guy named Roger Maris on their squad that returned 5 punts for TDs in one game). As they were the lone Catholic HS in the area, they were able to recruit. Something the public schools weren't able to do. Sort of the original Cretin Derham Hall I guess.

(Qualifier: Shanley was founded in 1889, Cretin High in 1871 and Derham Hall in 1905. My point was more recruiting related, but i realize it's quite possible Cretin-Derham Hall (1987) may have engaged in this practice for quite some time.)

Looks like Tonka basketball did a pretty good job bringing kids in this year....from: http://tchoops.blogspot.com/2011/10/2011-12-lake-conference-preview.html
Minnetonka Skippers (2010-11 season 4-23, 0-8 Classic Lake Conference, 5th)
The Skippers will have an entirely new look this season as 4 players who weren't on the roster last year will likely see big minutes.  Post Latrell Love comes over from Minneapolis Henry and is a crafty inside scorer.  Guard Grant Kellogg comes from Benilde-St. Margaret's and wing Riley Dearring comes over from DeLaSalle.  Forward Mike Fernando will be eligible after sitting out last year as a transfer from Eden Prairie.  Add those returnees to PG Tommy McDermott (14.1 PPG), frosh guard Andrew Grosz, wing Malcolm Moore and post Andrew Turnblad.  Forward Joe Risinger will be a glue player for them.  15 points a game from lefty wing Nick Latzke will need to be replaced.  So I see the Skippers one of the state's bigger turnaround stories.

So how did a kid from Coon Rapids end up on the Wayzata Football team this fall?  I'm sure there was a legit reason.
And how 'bout the two bookend offensive linemen that moved into Eden Prairie (they're also going to be post players for the basketball team)?  Yes I know their dad's are coaches for the Vikings..and why wouldn't a coach send his kid to EP.

I did see the Twins signed a shortstop who is 37 years old.  His name is Jamey Carrol!  I follow baseball quite closely and have never heard of him.

Evidently you don't follow it close enough. ;D  He's a 10 year veteran who's played with four or five different organizations in both the National and American Leagues mostly recently the past two years with the Dodgers.  He's hit .290-.291 with them, a career .278 hitter.  He may be old but he's a solid utility guy with a steady glove who can play short, second or third base.  He also played a few games in the outfield in LA.  He won't take a team to the World Series but he will be a decent role player.  They could have done worse.

Indeed the Twins could have done worse!  You know a person who can take a team to a World Series....Nick Punto!  Lets bring him back to spark the lineup!  We also know that the Twins could use a decent backup catcher.  At the top of my list...Matthew Lecroy!   I believe he is still available and probably in good shape! ;D

I would love to see somebody knock off Whitewater or Mount Union but not the Toms.  I wish them safe travels along the way but to be honest I hope they get beat.

Totally apples to oranges.

BCS football and D3 playoffs have nothing in common, much less the spirit that separates the two divisions in regards to ethos and vision. Even still, most SEC fans cheer for SEC teams in the postseason. Same for B1G, Big 12, etc.

MN high school playoffs also have little resemblance to the D3 system. That and irrational HS parents are notorious for having little perspective.

If you want to see irrational HS parents...watch some HS hockey. We have kids out here playing Junior Golds because they didn't make their HS varsity team under the impression that Dave Hakstol or Don Lucia will be calling at any second.

Side note: EP's program is enormous. What does a kid do if he's a decent player but sitting behind a Blue Chip recruit on his way to Notre Dame or Wisconsin? In situations like that, do you think it's okay for a HS athlete to explore other options?

When I was in middle school Brooks Bollinger split time on varsity at QB as a freshman at GF Central with another freshman, Joe Wilson. So, basically, the two best varsity QBs in our state were 14 years old, and played for the same school. Well, eventually Brooks won the position outright because his talent was just undeniable. Joe Wilson transferred across town to play at Red River his junior year and he was lambasted for it by the coaches on our team.

"He could've started at safety. We could play him at wideout. Etc."

The guy wanted to play QB in college and did what he thought was best for him. Brooks ended up winning Rose Bowls at Wisconsin and Joe Wilson ended up with a scholarship to UND and a D2 National Championship Ring (albeit as a back up).

Personally, saw nothing wrong with it, and I played for Central.

Because he wanted to play for Wayzata.  His mom works at the lifetime in Plymouth, and they made a family decision to move.  There is no recruiting being done by Wayzata/EP/Hopkins.  You can advocate that silly rules be made up to punish kids with a season off if they move, but if high school sports are about the kids, you should recognize that Antonio not only moved into a school where he'd be more likely to earn a scholarship, but he also transferred to a school with a better academic reputation.

--As for the EP linemen, you can probably count out Davidson from being a basketball post for EP as he broke his leg in the quarterfinals against Anoka last Friday.
