If they don't score too quickly I'd bet we'd see a 2:1 clock advantage for UST. I'd like to see them pound it with Toney and Terrell-Byrd a lot tomorrow and keep Tobin fresh for down the line.

For tomorrow's purposes yeah. Not so sure if we wind up playing IWU.

Fritz Waldvogel getting injured in the first few minutes of the game probably didn't help.
same for Ben Wartman

Wartman's impact on offense at the tail end of last year was a lot less than Waldvogel's was. But yes.

I disagree with that.  Wartman was pretty much ineffective in getting shut down against BU in the first game last year, with only 26 yards to Tobin's 86.  For some reason, Tobin ran better against them, so I don't really think the Wartman injury hurt them in the playoff game.  Walgdovel, yes.

Wartman battled some injuries most of the year, and Tobin's style of running proved to more effective in certain spots. But Wartman's absence was definitely felt...and when Waldvogel went down we were cooked.

Interested to see who will step up to be playmakers next season.

If I remember correctly, Ronetastic Roney made Wartman a WR for the first part of his career.

We had a similar situation with Ludtke and Barkley when I was a freshman. One was a slasher one was a little more effective in the real physical games. Then Barkley went for 275 yards on 15 carries against Concordia and it was all over.

The 12:45 game will feature U of M recruit Philip Nelson.  Wonder if the SJU coaching staff will be down at the dome checking out potential players...IMO they should be.

Anybody watching the Class A semi-final between Sleepy-Eye St. Mary's and Mahnomen?  I love the Mahnomen uniforms...old school Redskins look.  I think they've had this style for over 30 years.  Gotta love a team nicknamed Indians that has a Tight End named Littlewolf.

Well, and Wartman's running style didn't exactly scream running back, either. Real straight up and down guy, not the prototype.

Tons of respect from us at D3sports.com for taking that pounding at running back and at catcher for the national champion Tommies baseball squad. Hope his knees are good.

As per my statement above, of course I'm watching.  Love the triple option Mahnomen runs, too.  The St. Mary's quarterback is also impressive.

First, loved Bennie's post...lots of seemingly original stuff that cracked me up.

Second, I won't pretend to know the strength of non-MIAC teams in the playoffs--some of the teams' historical status, yes, but I don't look outside the conference much during the year. That being said, St. Thomas made pies out of what I felt were a bunch of fine teams in the upper tier of the MIAC this year. It is hard for me to envision any of the other teams in their playoff bracket keeping up with them.

Third, I'll be wearing my purple St. Thomas sweatshirt this Saturday (I'll also be changing the oil on the snowblower and greasing the garage door tracks).

Fourth, the Tommie sweatshirt I own was given to me as a gag gift by a Johnnie.

First, for clarification, I didn't write the "Adult Truth's", I am just sharing them...and relating to them!
Second, aren't you afraid someone might see you in that UST(D) sweatshirt? What will the neighbors think? ;)

Sorry ROR, SJU guys have been real hard on the UST guys about grammar. I wouldn't do it normally, but a precedent has been set.

Mahnomen is up in my neck of the woods. As with most reservation schools they're not really known for their football prowess, so this is kind of a change. It's a different set up there though, the reservation has a sort of dual-jurisdiction thing going on.
