Wet day down here for the President's Cup. On the positive side, I teed off at 6:24 this morning with some mates and I shot the best round of my life.  It should rain more often when I play.

Interested to see who will step up to be playmakers next season.

This will be an interesting twist with Tracy,Tobin & Waldvogel all gone.
Also interesting if the kids coming in will take ownership of the program. This year's Sr. class are the foundation of the Tommie success, can it be sustained without leaders like Fritz,Dakota & Colin.
As of now they're on DOUBLE SECRET Probation!

Congrats OZ. I find that some of my best rounds come when I'm not expecting to play well. When there's, as you had, crap weather, some little ache and pain, playing badly prior. I guess it shows that the most important muscle in golf, is the one above the neck.

Might not matter as Charley Walters Tweeted again last night Carusso may be heading to 0 - 9 Columbia...

The Lions have actually scored a bunch of points this season.... coach Carusso could prolly have them turned around lickety split as well as the Johnnie fortune.

Oz-can you go out for Woods today?
Not being from Minnesota-but is it rare for a Northern school to make the championship game in 4A? And how many classes do you have? Is 4A big or middle of the road?

Should be a fun day for D3 football, sad but fun. Looking to watch the IWU and Monmouth game, along with UWW-which will be over in the 1st quarter.

I can see him being offered the job but having him take the job is wishful thinking.  I don't see him moving his family to the Upper West Side or across the river to New Jersey.
Anybody have any idea how much that job would pay?  You'd have to be paid at least $250-500K...right?

Even in NYC a $250K spread is huge.- Then he'd have to consider all the hastle with the students "occupying" the practice field. I'd bet he stays at UST

Columbia Alum and New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft would have to pump a lot more money into the program there to get Caruso there.

Monmouth wins-so U$T has another, what should be an easy game-but Monmouth can throw the ball. Overall-games played out pretty true to form.

Tommies will host Monmouth in Rd 2.

Interesting matchup. A guy as talented and as experienced as Tanney can be dangerous this time of year. A definite test for the Tommie secondary. Their corners should be fine, but their safeties aren't near what they were last year. The real question is whether Tanney will have enough time. IWU got a lot of pressure on him today.

Monmouth's D will have a lot tougher task next week than they did today. IWU QB had 5 turnovers by himself today (one a fumble going in to score in the 3rd OT).

As an IWU guy, I'll repeat what I said before today - 'lesser' teams with super QBs scare the hell out of me!  (I well remember what Chad Rupp of Franklin did to NCC in 2008.)  I'm still convinced that IWU was overall the better team (and our defense DID significantly slow Tanney - shutting down Tanney is too much to ask), but ever since we lost our best RB (TJ Stinde) for the season in game 3, IWU has been a one dimensional team.  QB Rob Gallik will be a very, very good QB (and was for most of the season), but he picked a very poor day to revert to being a YOUNG QB.

The Tommies will be the strong favorite (your offense is much more versatile than IWU's, minus Stinde), but Tanney is perfectly capable of pulling a Chad Rupp on you!  I honestly do not know how IWU and STU defenses compare; we severely slowed him, you may flat-out stop him or get burned by him.  Good luck (though for family reasons, I'll be rooting for Monmouth to pull the upset).

SUMMIT!!!!!

congrats to St Thomas' Ben Sathre on winning the individual champiionship!  He is just th second UST runner to win the title and the 2nd MIAC runner to ever win it (Carleton had a 2-time winner in the 1970s when it was not an MIAC member)

UST has a stellar defense. Shutting down the run and keeping teams from scoring are their dominant areas. Their pass D and pass D efficiency are good as well, but the former categories are where they shine. Which is really what makes this an interesting matchup. The strength of Monmouth's offense (passing) will be going against the 'relative weakness' of the Tommie D. Then again, CSS was supposed to have a pretty stellar QB and pass offense as well. That didn't pan out today. But Tanney's a different animal than the other elite QB's in DIII.

Weather like they had today would spell doom for Monmouth and their offense.
