Bringing up "stout" must be my clue to let SagatagSam know I'll be cruising through his home town this weekend, making sure to stop at:

My kids love the place. I may pick up a confederate flag, a couple of Visit Minnesota postcards with pictures of monster walleye and a rubber hatchet while I'm there.  8-)
See if you can land that giant plywood pirate looking all Captain Morgany. Everything has a price.

Yes, please do try to buy that eyesore. I'm sure I could nudge town officials to have a grand ceremony where you are given the keys to Royalton for removing said Captain Morgany pirate from our skyline.

Drive and shop safely on your journey through the Gem of Morrison County, BDB!

Hmmm. South Dakota fires its coach.

Okay, I'll stop looking for places for Caruso to land, heed Bench's advice and focus on recruiting players to SJU. New York City kids love St. John's. Chris Mullin, Walter Berry, Mark Jackson, etc.

As Fargo's Jeff Kolpack noted, the USD coach, Ed Meierkort, was 54-35, beat the Gophs and was 6-5 this year while they went to D1. Very strange firing.

Do you mean the Chris Mullin who went to St. John's in New York? Or is this some sort of MIAC insider's joke (if so, please forgive my ignorance ... I live in Pennsylvania  ;))

Warren, just a small hint.  You have to be careful about taking anything on this board at face value.  We don't always put smileys in to warn you.  Sarcasm is expected.

Well, I never! Things are certainly different out in the land where folks used to quaff Grain Belt, Hamm's, and Heileman's Special Export.  :o

{P.S. I shouldn't have been surprised ... my wife is an Ole, my sister- and brother-in-law
are GACers, as is their son (and his wife played basketball at St. Thomas), and a niece is married to a Johnnie. That I'm a native Texan clearly doesn't help at all.}

Warren, you're forgiven, as long as you supply everyone with Yuengling.

Special Export aka Green Death.  A poor man's Heineken, back in the day.

Special Export aka Green Death.

I thought the "green death" was the Heileman malt liquor called Glueckstite [sp?]. I bought a six-pack of it, drank a couple, and used the rest to strip wallpaper.  ;)

More fuel to the "Caruso to USD" fire (courtesy of tommiesports.com):
QuoteCoach Caruso previously was the offensive coordinator at Division II South Dakota in his two seasons and was also offensive coordinator at Division II North Dakota State during a six-year stay as the Bison transitioned to Division IAA.

At South Dakota, he came into a program that had won 10 games combined the previous three years and helped the Coyotes post back-to-back 9-2 records and win the North Central Conference championship.

I wonder if he still has a warm relationship with the administration at USD?

And, I must agree, Meierkort's firing is a strange one.

Columbia's potential new coach is now on 830am WCCO radio....

Says 75% of his team is within 20 miles of the campus....

He loves what he does on offense... not gonna change... not even for host Mike Max...

Loves his stats....  guess UST is number 1 in defense..  he likes that.

Now Maxy and Glenn are quoting Mike Leach....

He likes to hold true to his identity...

Says all their adjustments are "systemic".... wow, that's some real coach speak....

Developing...

Dusty,

Do you listen to WCCO because you make your living selling medications to nursing homes, and want to get into the mindset of the end-users? ;D
As of now they're on DOUBLE SECRET Probation!

With the news coming out of the DakotaDome in Vermillion, I'd say the Coyotes position is a more attractive job than the opening at Columbia. There is more growth potential in my opinion.

Typically if the rushing numbers are low the passing numbers get pretty high. I think UST has been pretty...ahem...stalwart in both areas of their defense this year. They did give up 30 to Concordia earlier this year, but most of those points came in the 4th quarter of a blowout.

"Stalwart"...nice use. They've been pretty "stout" too, wouldn't you say?

I just wish Bethel's D had been more 'hoppy'...wait, I might be mixing my metaphors here  ;D

More room to stretch out too.... wouldn't have to worry about sfury stalking him.
