Dlip (2 syllables)  I understand your attempt at being reasonable with a couple of these posters who think the acronym for St. Thomas is MUC...but really, as far as I can tell, the Tommies have no play-off accomplishments to speak of.  They had the North #1 last year and fell flat on their asses.

They have compiled their undefeated record the same way DVC and John hopkins did....by wasting mediocre at best competition.  SJF will be the best team they face to date.....
I tend to agree with the top 25 pollsters that ranked Bethel and St. Olaf equal or above St. John Fisher.  Would Fisher be favored to win at River Falls, SJU, Concordia or even St. Norbert?

Then, maybe not (though probably at least three of the last four).

After the last two weeks, I'd say yes.

I have no dog in this fight, but that post was over-the-top disrespectful.

Yes, probably (when is the game?), Yes and Yes.

It originated from an Alfred football player (a current one at the time) was talking a little bit of trash before their matchup against Ithaca.  He spelled Saturday like Saterday and everybody ran with it.  Alfred lost if anybody is curious.

Posting while on the roster...never a good idea.

WOOOOOOAHHHHHH big fella, (instructs Tommiegun as he rides his steed back into what used to be a snarky, free-for-all, wild west region MIAC town after a long weekend out on the range, noticing a bunch of froo-froo, tightly wound, sniveling, hypersensitive noreasters).  "What's got ya'lls britches in a bunch?" Tommiegun asks the first noreaster he sees (who, incidentally, is sporting a divine cardinal colored smock)

Noreaster: We're just dlipping flabbergasted that all you heathensout on the frozen steppes at the end of civilization cannot use proper tact and, eh-hem, decorum, when addressing your Empirial betters in our discourse on American futbol.

(Tommiegun takes a shot of whiskey while staring the cardinal smocked man in the eyes, swallows, hacks, and spits at the noreasters ruby colored Birkenstocks)... This town ain't big enough for the two of us...

GO ARMY! BEAT NAVY!

Perhaps I should stop by a few cocktail parties after the game to see if I can rub elbows with Mr. MIAC.

He'd likely have his Army Alumni fatigues on.

Go Navy!!!!

Funny, but also shows deficiencies in reading comprehension.  'dlipping' was introduced by me (a CCIW guy), hardly a noreaster.  (BTW, my dad was raised in Maine - it is Nor'easter!  And, even if from Minnesota, you do NOT want to get caught in one! :P  At least, not if you are on a lobster boat.)  Ever read The Perfect Storm?

Now pass over the dlippin' whiskey! 8-)

Only a Midshipman could sustain his level of arrogance. There's no way he could ever be a Cadet at West Point.

GO ARMY!

One of my good Johnnie buddies had an uncle, a retired Marine Lt. Colonel, send me a pretty clever YouTube video knocking my fellow Army buds at USMA: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GgSkAzRfzc0
Sing us a song, you're the piano man
Sing us a song tonight
Well, we're all in the mood for a melody
And you've got us feelin' alright.

82 dont think you are ****ing immune. Dlip loves him some 82 as well as some ypsi!

Repete, dlip recalls that conversation. It really is about the power team, or lack there of, that is responsible for perceptions. Basically any team that has to go through Udub or muc becomes immediately done for the season. Even the semi-finslists are all but forgotton right? Does that mean there entire region is week? All we really have had to go on is how well erts have played muc. They have played them no worse and arguably better then most othets havent they?

Dlip: While MUC and UWW are a tough draw for anyone, especially the last six years, comparing scores in losses is always tricky. The more interesting question is why are the only teams to break through from the West?

A good question repete, and dlip's only possible answer is because they are very good teams. Like dlip has said before, he has a tremendous amount of respect for west region football programs and has never said otherwise. Yet, in the past however many years no one from the West, East, South, and North has derailed U-Dub Dub Dub Dub Dub and the mighty MUC.

dlip believes this is a very true statement 82. Again, dlip feels, because there has been no "national powerhouse/elite" program from the east in many years the perception towards the east is poor. On top of this, with an Eastern team always having had to go through MUC just to get the to semi's (with the exception of this year and the year SJF gave MUC a very tough game in the semi's), many from other regions may not feel we have merit. To dlip this is not the case.

USTBench

I think a better conversation would be to leave MUC and UWW out of the dialogue, because they're in a class all of their own and it serves no purpose to keep pointing that out, because...yeah, we know.

What I'd like to know, is who rates among those best 3 to 6 "tier 2 teams" (for lack of a better word) over the last 3 or 4 years? And by that I mean, who is consistently playing 12 games a year over the last few years. Obviously Linfield, NCC, Bethel, Mary Hardin Baylor, Wesley are in the conversation (I'm sure I'm forgetting someone). UST is trying to get over that hurdle and win a region title, so they can at least get a crack at the MUC/UWWs of the world. SJF had some nice runs in 06/07 and seem to have it going again this year. So, we'll see.

Its taken 4 years for Fisher to get back to the level that they wanted to keep.
Coach Vos has done an admirable job in putting the pieces together for a nice run, including utilizing a 3rd string qb, and overcoming key losses on D.
That said- Fisher isnt in the mix that you speak of- yet.
Given the current run and the fact that the team is young for the most part, I could see another 2-3 year run as in years past.

Picked up a 12 pack of "Founding Fathers" beer this weekend, and found it to be an ok beer.  I'm a big surly fan, so comparing a lot of beers to that will leave you a bit let down flavor-wise, but it wasn't a bad beer.

Also 50% of their profits are donated to charities that benefit military families, so it has a great cause.

Additionally, one of their military advisory board members is a Johnnie - Brigadier General (Retired) Joe Kelly
