AO you are way off base pal. Your pride and confidence in your team and/or region are admirable, but they are clouding your ability to listen to reason. Reason in which many very dedicated and smart D3 fans feel is very close to reality. Just back up for a moment. Why should St. Thomas be looked at as that much better than Del Val? Or say a JHU football team that won their conference in the south and came into the playoffs undefeated with a Gagliardi Nominee at QB. The same thoughts can be applied to them; weak conference and/or schedule right? Yet SJF beat them on the road in the first round; that W must hold some water to a rational D3 fan. To dlip, St. Thomas is a better team than Johns Hopkins because overall dlip feels they have a more impressive body of work to be undefeated. It is very rational to think that St. Thomas is not a "ton" better than these teams though and your base that the east is "weak" is just does not make all that much sense. If St.Thomas homgonizes the Cardinals this weekend than dlip will give you some do credit...

Here's a hint to people from other regions -- check the logos under people's names as a first clue as to who they might root for. :)

Homogenization would be the correct term and in the spirit of eco-friendliness UST co-eds will disperse mostly bits around O'Shaughnessy field to assist in Sprin-Turf back-fill.

Didn't get most of this but thanks for the correction. dlip needs to take the Homogenization process much more seriously! ;)

Speaking of homogenization, how is the dairy addition to the CSB Department of Agriculture coming along?

My apologies, turns out I just saw a pregnant Bennie while stopping for gas in St. Joe.

While the boys at SJU were lost and drunk on cheap beer a few of those rascals from SCSU must have wandered on campus.

Here's a nice interview with Fritz Waldvogel.  I think it's a sign of team cohesion when Glenn Caruso and the players stick to the same narrative.

or an extreme amount of coach speak....

Not sure how FW could claim they're playing the best ball of the season with all the turnovers/penalties they're putting out there. They'd better get those areas cleaned up or they could have that bad taste again.

Oooooh, you got me there, Mr. MIAC.  :P

Actually, I just finished reading the book (no small feat with an SJU education and a 10-week old at home) Minnesota 13: Stearns County's 'Wet' Wild Prohibition Days, detailing the production of nationally renowned whiskey (aka Minnesota 13) from the area around SJU during Prohibition.  The monks of SJU often made stills for the local farmers.  It was quite an interesting read, especially since my family was from that Avon/Holdinford area.  Check it out.

That does sound interesting.  My wife's family is from the Holdingford area, and a lot of their friends that own homes that were around during prohibition actually have "secret" passageways and rooms in their houses that were originally used to hide moonshine.

That book is a great read. I picked it up a few years back and had it finished in a day and a half.
Since then, some of my Johnnie buds and I have begun brewing beer (and have the explicit desire to begin distilling some Minnesota 13 style whiskey.)

beer...whiskey....football.....smack.....more beer....now we're talking like the good ole days. All that's missing in Anna Friday to make this week a perfect run up to an MIAC playoff win

I also like the fact that the Collegeville precinct had a vote of something like 195-2 opposing the ratification of the 18th Amendment and a similar vote in favor of repealing it.

(Disclaimer: I don't have the book right in front of me, so that number may be off +/-10 votes or so.)

I know I'm horrible at math, but how does this starting O-line from the Del Valley game average 289lbs?

By my math its 307.

LT     78     Dan Maloney  (6'3", 295)
LG      55     M. Amezquita  (6'4", 310)
C      62     Kevin Cooper  (6'1", 275)
RG      71     James Thomas  (6'2", 355)
RT      76     C. Balcerzak  (6'5", 300)

I had one of the starters wrong.  Forgive me they are even bigger.

If it's an eating contest and not a football game, we'd concede.
