Ok, I see.  Didn't realize that the attendance for the two playoff games dragged down the average so much.  Deer hunting and a Thanksgiving weekend game can do that.

Oz, honestly, based on your guys' shared...beliefs, it's pretty shocking you're not yet a Flynn acolyte.

Since everything must be Tommie-Johnnie, give me Hassler.

Hazz & others-- which is your favorite Flynn book?  mine is "American Assassin". I didn't set it down till I was finished.

American Assassin would be tops for me as well. Coincidentally, isn't this the one they making into a movie?

Yes it is....which makes sense that, while its the mosr recent one published, it is actually the first chronologically... an incredible "flashback" that explains a lot about Rapp....Irene is still my ideal boss lady.... I wonder who'll play her in the flick? (Hillary Clinton would be ideal, except I think Irene is a better looking woman)
After the game, the king and pawn go into the same box.

Go Whitewater, St. Thomas, Mount, and Mary; I'm looking for purple critical mass.

so you would rather travel and play the #1 team in the country next week instead of at home against a team from the East....?

Yes, I think St. Thomas fans have been wanting to see a Purple Power/St. Thomas match up for over a year, and while I think UST has a better chance of beating a team from the East, as a fan, I'd like to see how we match up against one of the big boys.

Moreover (and related to this point only insomuch as its my only experience with that school lunch steak school) I remember when we played Salisbury in baseball when I was a junior and they were ranked like 2 or 3 in the country, and they sucked, and we pummeled their ace.  Beat the best to be the best; Salisbury isn't the best.

I am also interested to see how UST stacks up against one of the purple powers.  As BU had never had a playoff run prior to '07, it was interesting for me to see that while BU was very good compared to most of the teams in the country, Mount Union was just on an entirely different level.  While Bethel progressed between the '07 and the 2010 games vs mount, there is still a long way to go.  I'm curious if St. Thomas has climbed up on to the same plateau that UWW and Mount union stand on.

Saturday's game may be sort of close at half, but I predict that it is a yawner by the 4th quarter.

I agree, but think it will only be close in Q1.  Predicted score:

OZ-- not only block off time, but Id suggest trying to read them in order of publication. While each one stands fine on its own, there are frequent mentions/allusions to incidents in previous books that are more clear (and thus more enjoyable) with being familar with them. That said, I started wtih "Memorial Day", was captivated like Hazzbeen,  and promptly  bought the whole series, and only later found out Vince is a Tommie (who played pre-Roney).

Hazz & others-- which is your favorite Flynn book?  mine is "American Assassin". I didn't set it down till I was finished.

Ok so how old is Vince Flynn?  What position did he play and when  did he play for the tommies?  Would be kind of cool to know you got to smack around a famous author on the football field.  I have read every one of his books and love them.

Where'd you come up with that number?  ;D

It just seems that things are trending that way nowadays.  :)  On second thought, my blowout prediction is probably off.  It's difficult to run up the score like that on high caliber teams such as SJF.

He graduated in 1988. You'll have to ask Maniac if he played all four years at St. Thomas; other Tommie posters will only have details of the program's history from 2010-11.

218Tommie

My prediction for tomorrow
UST-35
SJF-10

Hopefully too much doesn't happen in the first half since I may be a little late to the game.

Well that would be a big no on playing against him then since the only time I played against the Tommies was the 90' playoffs
