Dlip watched some of the game and was very impressed, without questiong, with UST. This is an excellent football team and program not doubt! Dlip wishes them the very best, they deserve it! I look forward to watching their next game. Hopefully it is streamed online. Congrats to both teams, but Today the better team won. This does not change hazz**** from being a complete ****ing tool though.

Well, I get what you're saying, but in respect to Bethel, they've been the best team UST has played this year by far. That will change next weekend of course.

SJF was physical early, but they just ran out of gas about midway through the 1st quarter. Congrats to them on a great playoff run and season.

AO you are way off base pal. Your pride and confidence in your team and/or region are admirable, but they are clouding your ability to listen to reason. Reason in which many very dedicated and smart D3 fans feel is very close to reality. Just back up for a moment. Why should St. Thomas be looked at as that much better than Del Val? Or say a JHU football team that won their conference in the south and came into the playoffs undefeated with a Gagliardi Nominee at QB. The same thoughts can be applied to them; weak conference and/or schedule right? Yet SJF beat them on the road in the first round; that W must hold some water to a rational D3 fan. To dlip, St. Thomas is a better team than Johns Hopkins because overall dlip feels they have a more impressive body of work to be undefeated. It is very rational to think that St. Thomas is not a "ton" better than these teams though and your base that the east is "weak" is just does not make all that much sense. If St.Thomas homgonizes the Cardinals this weekend than dlip will give you some do credit. However, unless you have seen all of these teams play, and have a very well balanced and supported opinion on relative strength, you are pretty much talking out of your poop shoot.
also,-- listening to the Fisher radio crew, apparently the Tommie football program is "classless" and Caruso has forgotten his sophisticated gentlemanly empire8 roots.

Elaborate? Sour grapes for the lopsided score or don't like the fact that he gets loud with the refs occassionally?

I'll just copy a post from the E8 board that pretty much mirrors what the radio homers were saying:

GO UWW!

Don't be such a little baby.  You play to the whistle, play to the end of the game.  To do anything other than that, would be an insult to the opponent.

Are you freaking serious?

There was less than 30 seconds left douche bag.

Hopefully UWW puts 50 on you the douche bags from STU

Oh, the old running up the score crybaby act.

That was our second string. Whatever.

AO enough dude. People are upset and understabably. As d3 fb fans we love our teams to the point of getting quite emotional. Dude there is no question UST was/is the better team. Time to stop cutting and pasting from other boards and stop the I told you so, prove people wrong ****. It was just an excellent win for UST.

Upstate

Two pass plays w/ under 1:00 to go isn't trying to run up the score?

Don't get me wrong, you guys are damn good but come on that was horse ****.

BleacherBum

As much as I hope to stay out of this UST v. East Region love fest, a couple of only kind of biased thoughts.

1. Tommies had the backups in at the end of the game. The game was over, but if the second stringers see a weakeness they should take advantage of it. Don't they practice just as hard as the starters? Also, it gives UWW another wrinkle on tape. Not that a fake FG should scare the Warhawks, but it's just one more thing.

2. Congrats to the Empire8 conference. Getting 2 teams to the quarters is no small feat and they should be recognized accordingly. That being said, both teams were knocked out by West Region teams today. Despite the fact that UWW has been moved North the last few years, they still are part of the West. It's hard not to say that the best in the west is not a premier team in the country, regardless of who comes out on top.

Congrats to the Tommies on a nice win today and to SJF for a nice playoff run.

Difference in philosophies I think. Over the years I think the MIAC, whether it be SJU, Bethel, UST or Concordia has had the mindset that you play the full 60 minutes. I think if the ball was on the 50 you would've seen them take a knee, but Caruso is losing a lot of talent next year and no doubt wants to give his freshmen/sophomores some playoff experience. UST has been blown out in the past, and I don't think anyone has called Gags (SJU's coach) "classless." That's just the way we play in this part of the country.

And to those that say, "I hope UWW puts up 50 on you douche bags." UWW would've put 50 up on you without batting an eyelash. Same with MUC/

Well well well......now UST has taken the next step, and we will see how they stack up.

Congrats on a well-played, solid game.  Give it your best next week.....you will need it to compete.

And Bethel fans......seriously?  Do you know how weak that sauce is when you go to the "we our better than that team", and yet you are not even in the play-offs?  Oh......and in the last eight years the two Bethel teams that came to Mount were the two WORST teams they faced in the semi's.  Don't pound your chest too much....it's just ridiculous.

Man, where did we ever get the idea that SJF might not be up to the challenge or that the East is a little weak  :o ::)

As Bethel sits listless having not played at all today. You are a ****in joke!

Quite sure that I made no reference to Bethel.  They shot themselves in the foot vs. olaf and earned their lack of a playoff spot.

My comment was rather pointed towards that joke of a football team the SJF produced, and how our assumptions of SJF not being up to the task, and the relative weakness of the east were strongly confirmed.

Enjoy your off season of third person references, big guy.

What does Bethel's athletic budget look like? I'd really like them to schedule a non-conference game against SJF next year.

Yup, they would have but at least MUC wouldn't have been throwing with less than 1:00 to play up by 20+...

As long as the starters are all out, I don't see what the problem is.  The 2nds / 3rds all want a chance to make something happen just as badly, why not give them a chance?

Dlip agrees with you, he has no problem with those guys doing their thing. Its their opportunity to shine. They put in the work during practice everyday, when they get  called they need to show what they have.

Bench,

It was another guy posting on the E8 board who was saying the only good team UST had played was Bethel and dismissing the rest of the league:

I think Fisher will be like Bethel and physical enough to force the Tommies to do something else more often then they are used to doing.

"Fisher is likely the best team they have played all year.  I am not sure about Bethel's size or physicallity but they are not likely any bigger or more physical than Fisher."

My contention, sticking up for the MIAC and the West,  that he was underrating the overall strength of the MIAC apparently was later dismissed as a "useless  comment."
