.....and if you had won, I'm sure we would have heard how great of a coaching job SJF did!  Recruit better!!

Yeah I'm sure there are just tons of programs around the country that have quality QBs 3 deep...

I'm sorry, forgot to mention that your defense was awful today too!
Must have been the scout "D" playing, your two deep all must have been hurt to.
Not trying to be an ass here, just sick of all the excuses.
Your team had a great run, with some luck, and today it ran out.
Move on and be grateful for the opportunity to have played.

Did you even pay attention to the game?

The offense and special teams killed the defense with field position, UST had 3 scoring drives of 31 yards or less thanks to turnovers on offense and special teams.

Every defense is going to break down if the offense can't move the ball and special teams keeps screwing up and giving up short fields.

I did pay attention!
UST averaged 5.1 yards per play for the day.  That's awful defense!  Short field, long field, doesn't matter.  Your team speed was awful.  Your "D" line couldn't contain #17 all day.
Your "O" line was soft and slow.
You got beat by a much, much, better team today.

Scrub
you are the epitome of what Ive been talking about.
weak.
At least mensa wont worry about a new member

pg04

Did scrub say anything that was untrue?  I don't think that's fair to say.

fisheralum91

Really pg.
really?
Perhaps im a little upset- maybe a bit sore- but I think he was out of bounds

pg04

To be perfectly honest, I have only seen ONE Fisher poster ( and he isn't involved in the fray) congratulate or say that St. Thomas was a good team despite them trouncing Fisher.  The Fisher fans are being less than good losers.  SOrry if you are all offended by that, but It feels that way to me.  Instead of saying good things about the other team you make excuses and whine.  I'm sure the Fisher players think St. Thomas was very good.

fisheralum91

You know what pg- perhaps you may need to read my posts again.
I said that Fisher got beaten by a better team today.
My beef was with the playcalling late.
So what.
it still stings.
im a fan.
it hurts.
forgive me

Fish,
I'm an old retired guy.  Help me where I'm out of bounds here??
I'm sorry, but your team did not play at the level of what a final 8 team needs to in order to win.
You coaches offensive game plan was not good.
Your defense did not play well.
Your special teams was the only thing that gave your team a chance today.
Call my comments whatever you want, but those are the facts.
Your team got to play 3 extra games this year, the team I support didn't, congrats to your team.

scrubby,
perhaps the venom is from a bad loss.
for that I apologize.

WashedUp, I'll be making the trek down to UWW along with maybe a roomie and friend of ours.
As for that one HUGE o-lineman for fisher I was looking forward to seeing what he can do, but was unimpressed. My buddy summed up his physique perfectly "he doesn't have a spare tire around his waist, thats a spare TRACTOR tire!" and that came from a 300lb lineman. But I am definitely looking forward to the game next week.

This post reminds me why it's important to prep your second and third quarterbacks in game situations. This was great experience for the St. Thomas 2's against a good number of the St. John Fisher starting defense. (I didn't do a full check of all 11 on that drive, but the guys who made tackles were starters.)

Fish,
No need to apologize (thank you though), I don't take any of this personally.
I totally understand your passion for your team and respect that.
I should have stayed out of this from the get go.

fisheralum91

thanks scrub,
passion goes a long way and sometimes makes me oversenstive about the alma mater...

I was at the game.

SJF had some big kids, they just could not match ST's athletecism.  Also not much depth.

Met some very nice SJF parents.

Number 7 for SJF, Ryan Francis, appeared to have a serious right knee injury.  Went down late in the 3rd quarter.  He was SJF's number one playmaker, not sure why they didnt' figure out more ways to get the ball in his hands.

I listened in on SJF head coach Paul Vosburgh's post game comments to his team.  (I was taking photos, I couldn't help but hear what he said.)  I was impressed with what he had to say and the way he said it.  Very classy and a good way, given the circumstances, for his seniors to spend their last moments on a football field in SJF uniforms.

The officiating crew was from the CCIW.  Best call all day, from my perspective, was when Jack Gavin of ST intercepted a pass in the back corner of the ST endzone in the 3rd quarter.  The official who was right there put up both arms to signal a touchdown.  An unnamed MIAC head coach who was standing right there chuckled and said to him "I'm not going to say anything."

I was really hoping SJF would give ST and better game and provide a better measuring stick of just how good ST really is.  Based on the two times I've seen them this year, I think they can hang with Whitewater.  They have size, speed and athletecism.  The unknown is how they will react when the team on the other side of the ball matches their size, speed and athletecism.  And how they will react the first time that dlipping cannon goes off. ;)
