And how they will react the first time that dlipping cannon goes off. ;)

On that note, ST. was dominate today.  :o

I'd give you +2K for those, if I could!  ;D  God, I hate that dlipping cannon.  The Perk does have the nicest bathrooms in D3, though!

No cannon in the Playoffs as dictated by the NCAA. In response the Cheerleaders hold up cards and the fans yell "KABOOM." They're so cute those Warhawk fans. ;)

Congratulations to St. Thomas - (I am a SJF Fan), very impressive win.  SJF had a good run, we're returning a lot of players so who knows, depending on how the NCAA does it seedings, perhaps we'll lock horns again.

Good Luck against UWW - very much ready for new blood in the Stagg Bowl.

On a side note - there's a lot of chatter regarding St. Thomas running it up on SJF with the TD pass in the final seconds, fake field goal etc.

I can see why it can be questionable - but in the end, it was up to SJF to stop them.

That said, the conspiracy theorist in me says it had more to do with the coaching connection between two Ithaca college alums. The E8 conference school - Utica College - is coached by an IC alum as well - and the coach from Utica was griping that Fisher ran it up on them.

Probably not true - but, given how high passions run in football would not surprise me.

That must be new since the last time I was at the Perk.  It's been a few years  :'(

Considering that Blaise (Utica's HC) was the DC at SJF for a decade they didn't attempt to run up the score, they threw 3 passes in the ENTIRE 2nd half...

I mean it's not like they tried a fake FG with 5 minutes left or threw two passes with 1:00 left up by 25 or anything...
The views expressed in the above post do not represent the views of St. John Fisher College, their athletic department, their coaching staff or their players. I am an over zealous antagonist that does not have any current connection to the institution I attended.

For those interested in such things, ahem, USD will name Joe Glenn its new head coach.

http://tinyurl.com/cqyjju5

Tough to argue with his success - he's a USD alum and won D2 and FCS titles - but it's still a little interesting, setting aside the Johnnie-wants-Caruso-to-leave-because-that's-the-only-way-SJU-will-be-back-on-top jokes.

Glenn is 62 and was "semi-retired." USD's now fully D1. Seemed like maybe you'd want a younger guy in there who can go in guns blazing, but you could also have it where maybe Glenn really establishes the program for a few years and then hands it off to someone else. Of course, Glenn might also coach for the next 23 years.

I thought Coach Brezewitz told you to get the dlip out of his nice bathrooms.

Nice to have a new poster.  Great post.  +k for classiness.

They tried a fake field goal with twenty-six minutes left. With five minutes left, St. John Fisher had the ball.

Back to the "Running up the score issue...."

I think it was Vince Lombardi who said, that when you pass, three things can happen, and two of them are bad. Maybe UST was just trying to give SJF a chance.

Congratulations to UST blah blah blah
Next week at U Dub Dub will certainly be a new experience and an accurate measuring stick for the progress of the program.

Now back to the regular scheduled programming:
USTBench- did you watch the Big-10 Championship game Saturday night? If so, did you spend face-time on your iPad with Brooks Bollinger getting his thoughts on the Badger victory?
What did BB have to say about Russell Wilson, arguably the second best QB in Badger history?  ;)
Does BB think RW has a future in the NFL? Does BB think RW may need to go the CFL route because of height?
As of now they're on DOUBLE SECRET Probation!

I don't know about the passing but it wouldn't surprise me if the rational behind the fake field goal was simply to get it on video that future opponents will see.  You wouldn't do it when the outcome of the game is still in question.  But it's safe to do it when the game is already decided and seeing it on video will force our staff to spend practice time preparing for it in case St Thomas would use it in our game.  That's practice time we could be spending on something else that we definitely will see.

I recall one incident in which we were winning with the game already decided and we attempted an onside kick. On the surface it seemed unnecessary but the truth of the matter is that we didn't really care if we recovered it or not our sole purpose was to get it on video for others to see.

Glenn Caruso has mentioned that "getting it on film" was the purpose of why did these things when the game was in hand, many times.

I'm starting to wonder which is worse though, Caruso throwing in the 4th quarter with the game in hand, or the oppossing team's fans crying about it for several hours afterwards?

I don't think there's much room for sympathy over what a second-string offense does against the first-string defense. If it's 2's on 2's, I'd think there was much more room for debate.

ESPN 3 at 2:30 CST .... looking forward to that broadcast. I was able to stream the Tommie-SJF broadcast to the big screen Saturday and it wasn't bad at all.
