At the risk of being dinged, please take this with the humor I intend, and taken from the headline on the front page of this site.

I think that we, the 99%, need to approach our administration in DC to demand that they "spread the wealth." It's only "fair" that they take some of the talent from those greedy 1%ers, UMU and UWW, and give the rest of us some. ;D

Or least re-locate them away from Northeast, Ohio and a short drive Chicago/Milwaukee/Madison. There's probably no place better to recruit in D3 than those areas.

75% of the 100 man roster are Wisconsin boys with the vast majority of the rest from IL. The first year my son played in 04, he was only one of 6 Illinois boys.  Yes, we have the Chicago area but you guys lie in the heart of the Twin Cities.  Can't ask a team to do anymore than to win with the homegrown boys, and UW-W for the most part, continues to do that.
Congrat again to the Tommis on a great season.  Really enjoyed your posts last week, Bench.  A couple gave me a good chuckle.   ;D  + karma

Agreed.

The overall strength of the WIAC and the success of the Badgers just goes to show you the value of recruiting your own state hard. Granted, the Badgers recruit nationwide, but a majority of their talent is homegrown.

Who knows, if the Goofers realized what was in their own backyard NDSU probably wouldn't be in the FCS semifinals and UND might not have won the Great West conference in their last year of transition to the FCS.

North Dakota teams owe the Gophers (particularly Tim Brewster) a great deal of gratitude for the apathy they have for good football players in the Twin Cities.

While it's true that we do manage to recruit some excellent players from the Chicago, Madison and Milwaukee areas I'm always amazed by those we get from some of the really small Wisconsin high schools.  Three that come to mind right away are Justin Beaver, Jace Rindhal and Adam Brandes.  All three were All Americans and came from high schools with less than 400 students.  Beaver was from Palmyra Eagle HS (336),  Rindhal was from Cambridge HS (270) and Brandes attended Burlington Catholic Central HS (141).  The current roster has starters from small schools such as Wisconsin Dells, Cambridge, Evansville, Horicon, Two Rivers and Necedah.

The battle for Cow Cup supremacy!

Indeed, I shall hoist my sacred Cow Cup in victory on that day...
...assuming the world hasn't ended by then.
Isn't the world supposed to end sometime next year according to the Mayan calendar prophecy thing? ???

Actually, I think the apocalypse is scheduled for sometime in late December, so I think we're good ;)

Actually, I like E's attitude what's was: You have to beat the best to be the best.  Let them keep their 1% as our victory will be that much sweeter.

Good to see that the vast majority of voters want to end the Purple Reign the old fashioned way. Discouraging that a few want some "outside intervention."

Agreed, retagent.  That there are a couple hundred people voting to either rig the brackets or come up with a new rule is mind blowing.  But then I guess there are those who don't feel that they should have to earn something.

Bet those voters think the BCS is a great system as well.   ;) ;D
