Sing us a song tonight
Well, we're all in the mood for a melody
And you've got us feelin' alright.

For old time's sake...

I came across this on Youtube last night when killing some time.  Everyone set?  Got your lightbulbs, pens and fags?  I'm set.

Great time at the Eelpout Festival last Saturday in Walker. The media reported that there were over 10,000 persons in attendance on Leech Lake. Always nice to meet some members of the Bikini Ice Fishing Team on the lake and get their autographs on the 2012 calendar. I did mention that they should make the trip up to Collegeville for the Stiftungsfestivities and a Johnnie game this fall and they thought it might be a possibility. Always nice to have some eye candy! ;D

Big news on the U of MN wrestling front.  The Gophers are the 2012 NWCA/Cliff Keen National Dual Champions!  Best dual team in the nation!

They dropped Iowa 16-15 on Sunday afternoon before topping Oklahoma State 18-13 on Sunday evening, avenging two losses from earlier in the season.

A tradition unrivaled...

Looks like Hitler will have to settle for one of Eva Braun's crap scones.

IMO...the biggest plus to this is the dome w/ terraced seating.  Football will have a year round facility.  Looks like the fitness center and locker rooms are also getting facelift.  The new 500 seat baseball park looks like it might be quite nice too.  What other baseball team in the conference other than the Auggies will have an on campus dome to use January thru March?

Clemens stadium gets new turf and a "recruiting lounge."  Basketball arena get new scoreboard and new bleachers.

We're comin!!!!   ;)

The plans are quite impressive.  I couldn't believe all the upgrades when I opened the recent alum magazine.  It'll be interesting to see if it all comes to fruition and who the big donors are.

I'm wondering who the first student will be to have a Lambro towed for parking in the wrong lot.

Here's a tale from back in my day.  In the late 80's / early 90's there was a big fundraiser at the SJU palestra.  One of the groups on campus...I think AKS (the fraternal organization) provided valet parking.  As the story goes somebody arrived in a very expensive sports car...possibly a Porsche.  The student that was given the opportunity to park the car decided to take an "aggressive" test drive around campus.  If I recall correctly he may have totaled the car and was possibly inebriated.

My apologies to JR for not mentioning the mug shot of him on p. 44.  Nice "little" story on his college days and professional career but no mention of the Stiftungsfestivities.  What's up w/ that?

Faunch, thanks for the introduction to the article. I had not seen it yet. The writer mentioned that both my grandfather and father were Carver County attorneys. That is not correct. My father ran for county attorney in 1950 and lost the election.

As someone who knows the pain of trying to cram an hour's worth of interview material into one of those tiny sidebar spaces, I can understand why the festivities might have been cut.

And if you liked reading about the facilities upgrade, be sure to buy (well, open your mailbox) next fall's SJU magazine, where I'll be writing about the wonderful world of intramural and club sports. Figure 1,100 words on my multiple IM basketball championships (coached by our own Robert Zimmerman, co-starring, among others, former SJU all-american defensive lineman Matt Griffith), 100 on everything else I'm supposed to write about.

Australia's government drives me up the wall.  Only slightly more infuriating is the US government.  But despite all those frustrations, we should still count our blessings.

Tough loss for SJU pux tonight in St. Peter. Appeared to tie the game with with a PP goal with less than two minutes to play only to have it waved off. No replay and I didn't hear an explanation ...possible man in crease. Then they gave up a empty netter in the final seconds.

Tough way to fall because USTd was upset by the Oles tonight and SJU would have had a home game for the playoff berth. Johnnies had some talent but still had some flaws that kept them from being a complete team.

On the brighter side, SJU is sending five to wrestling nationals.
