Anyone see the story on WCCO this weekend about minnow shots? :o Looked like a nice addition to jello shots for the tailgate parties this fall in Collegeville.

I take it they were now too big for you ;)

Actually, I have dropped 50+ pounds recently, so they were quite big, but they were getting a little threadbare, too  :o

Where was that?  Was it at a bar near Alexandria?  My brother-in-law and sister-in-law have shirts from a bar up there for shooting the minnow.

195 lbs. It was just time to get rid of the bulk I worked to build up that turned soft once I quit lifting weights.

The last thing that slow-footed Wisconsinite men need is another reason for lead-footed Wisconsinite women to run them over.  No wonder the UWW linemen are so big; they've spent the last couple years bulking up to survive the recall election season.

Been away for a while dealing with some family health issues (not mine) but started reading a bit lately.  Nice to see most everyone is still here.

Old #13 just played his first football game since that last game in the snow in November 2010.  He's playing in the Japanese X League for the IBM BigBlue - and interestingly he's playing offense - TE and WR to be exact.  There is a limit on the # of gaijin (foreigners) a team can have (4) as well as a limit on the # of gaijin who can be on the field at the same time (2).  They already had two gaijin for defense, and they had one signed for QB (Kevin Craft, who started for UCLA in 2008), but lucky #13 found his way onto the roster as a TE and part time WR (he says it's the "goalie hands" he still has from his old soccer days - which is okay so long as he doesn't punch the ball instead I guess).  His day job, which allows him to be in Japan, is teaching conversational English at a language center about 3 hours south of Tokyo, near Nagoya.  So he has to travel up to Tokyo and back every weekend for practices, pretty much at his own expense (professional teams in Japan are basically club teams, with not much $$ - and what they have I suspect they spent on the QB from UCLA).  But he's loving playing again, even if the crowds aren't what they were at the Natural Bowl.

So here are a couple of picture of his first game.  They have a spring season with two or three games and then a regular fall season.  We're hoping to get over for a game in the fall if all are healthy, as well as at least one game back in MN to see the Johnnies.

Hope you're all well.

Here is a picture of the 'gaijin' on the BigBlue, along with a player from another team (far right).

Good to see #13/#88 doing well.

P.S. we hope to have our NoCal travel itinerary later this week.

Sam Sura to SJU...nice get!

The reference to Beau La Bore- it was my understanding that Beau is now coaching at Stillwater, yet was mentioned as still being at Woodbury. ROR,can you confirm or deny if he is still at Woodbury or has in fact moved to Stillwater.

Sura is a beast.  Great pickup for the Johnnies.

Yes, LaBore moved to Stillwater about a year ago.  Woodbury schools split into two and they have a hard time competing with Cretin, Hill Murray and St. Thomas Academy for male athletes.  Football and hockey in particular.

Clark, great photos.  He looks like a natural.  I've been seeing ads in the paper for this John Stanton and wondering if he'd made an early career change.  http://www.runningroom.com/hm/inside.php?id=2570

Welcome back, Clark.  It's good to see you here again.

One of your relatives is playing for the Essendon Bombers in the AFL.  His name is Brent Stanton.  You've got to hand it to Bombers supporters, though, as they make Tommie backers look immeasurably loyal.  From B Stanton's Wikipedia page:

Early Life
When Stanton was seven years old he had already become a two-pack a day smoker. He attended Banyule Primary School and Viewbank College. He now resides in Northcote. Rumours have circulated that Brent was in fact, booed by Essendon supports as he emerged from his mothers womb.

And in other news, you have to be glad for Europe.  Every time you think that American (or Australian) politicians can sink no lower, Europe comes along and resets our expectations...

Swiss politician 'placed ad for cannibal to kill and eat wife and daughter of policeman friend'

Rudel, who worked in the town planning office, was known as 'Marquis el Diablo' who specialised in spanking, whippings and 'hot wax' torture.

Rudel, who goes on trial tomorrow, told police after his arrest in 2010 that he posted the ad in the hope that someone 'would get the wife out of the way.'Q

Can Europe sink even further?  Why, yes it can.  Three paragraphs further along from that quote:

Some two dozen people responded to the small ad on the Internet, one offering a 'special dungeon' on his farm that he could use.

Going to Hell in a hand basket?  Hell will be an improvement for these guys.
