He's very raw but he could be a steal for the Tommies.
A real steal indeed, only took a $10 Million locker room and a lambo to convince him.  ::)

So now you're a mind reader?  Or maybe Caruso used telepathy to convince him?  Not everyone comes to UST for materialistic reasons.

Just mocking your use of the term steal, usually used to denote the reduced price you paid for something.

my college ride (minus the handicapped ramp, but including the topper conversion with tv vcr and mood lighting.)

I got ya.  I just used the term more liberally.  I just feel that a lot of scouts may have missed a great kid with a lot of potential.

Do we have any Piper fans on this board?  I feel bad for them...they need to defend themselves!

What's a piper fan?   ;)

A masochist, typically.

The private school version of a gophers fan  ;)
At least the Piper fan doesn't expect the taxpayers of the state to pay for a new stadium for him to watch his team suck more than they sucked in the old stadium. ???
As of now they're on DOUBLE SECRET Probation!

WCCO Radio, Toms extend FB contract
May 24, 2012

Coach Glenn Caruso and Tommie football will continue to have games aired live on 830 WCCO Radio in the 2012 and 2013 seasons.
830 WCCO-AM Radio will air live broadcasts of St. Thomas football games during the 2012 and 2013 seasons as a result of a contract extension signed by the Twin Cities station and the university.

WCCO broadcast its first St. Thomas game in December 2010, when the Tommies played Bethel in the NCAA playoffs, and last April signed a two-year contract for the 2011 and 2012 seasons.

The amended contract calls for broadcasts of all 10 regular season games – home and away – for the next two years as well as any playoff games.

"We are pleased to extend our broadcast agreement with St. Thomas and to continue the tradition of broadcasting an expansive and enhanced experience to college football fans here in Minnesota and the Upper Midwest," said Mick Anselmo, WCCO Radio senior vice president and market manager.

St. Thomas received overwhelmingly positive responses last season from alumni and fans who followed the Tommies on WCCO, whether they were in their homes, cars or even at the stadium. More than 74,000 listeners tuned in for St. Thomas' 63-7 win over archrival St. John's in O'Shaughnessy Stadium.

"Our fans love to hear St. Thomas football on WCCO," said Mark Dienhart, executive vice president and chief operating officer. "We are delighted that the partnership will continue for two more years and look forward to the opportunity to again bring Division III and MIAC football to fans across the Upper Midwest."

Dave Lee, voice of Gopher football from 2001 to 2010 and WCCO's morning drive-time host, again will be the play-by-play announcer of St. Thomas games. Eric Nelson, a WCCO sports reporter, will return for another season of color commentary.

"Dave is the unmistakable voice of college football in Minnesota and Eric is a superb color announcer and interviewer," said Glenn Caruso, who has a 43-7 (.860) record in four years at St. Thomas. "We look forward to working closely with them again this season."

The Tommies, who finished 13-1 last season in advancing to the NCAA Division III semifinals, will open the 2012 season Sept. 1 at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire. They will play their other non-conference game Sept. 8 against UW-River Falls in O'Shaughnessy Stadium before opening defense of their MIAC title Sept. 15 at St. John's. Here is the 2012 schedule.

WCCO Radio began broadcasting in 1922 as WLAG and was renamed WCCO two years later when Washburn Crosby Co., the forerunner of General Mills, took over the station. It is one of the most powerful radio stations in the United States, reaching into Wisconsin, Iowa, North Dakota and South Dakota during the day and most states and Canadian provinces in the evening. WCCO has broadcast college football games since 1924.

[Aside]Beyonce?  Really?[/Aside]

Sure, why not?  I always wanted to be like Eminem - a semi-literate misspelling of a chocholate candy.  I always thought that snackolicious pop stars had the most fun.

I always figured that Lady Gaga was a no talent douche. To each their own I guess.

But the comment she made to her Bangkok, Thailand audience that she needs to go shopping while she's there for a fake Rolex is pretty frickin' hilarious.

I don't know anything more than any other outsider would about BU...Hazzben might have more to offer, as he knows more folks who are involved with the team.

The coaches are pretty high on last years backup. Probably not the physical runner that Aakre was (but then most QB's aren't built like a 6'3" 235 lb linebacker) but they think he's got the potential to be a more proficient passer. Offensive balance would be nice. We'll always be run first, but a legit passing, play action threat would go a long ways. They've got some very solid WR's, just need to get them the ball.

We'll have to see. You just never know with a new QB. Some guys surprise, some disappoint. A guy can be solid in practice or junk time at the end of blowouts, but wilt under real game time intensity. And other guys are total gamers. Seem like they've maybe got some potential, and then you put them on a field on Saturday and a stud emerges under the pressure.

What I'm not real keen on is the schedule. Bye comes week 1  :-\ I hate that! Getting the bye early stinks enough, but it's a waste week one. Playing a team that already has a game under its belt is tough duty, they've had 60 minutes to get the first-game kinks and jitters out of the system.

And game 1 is against Wartburg. Tough, well coached, competitive opponent. They're breaking in a new QB as well. That breaks both ways I guess. Their new guys gets a start under his belt and they get a sense for what he can do against real competition. But it also means Bethel gets film on the new guy while Wartburg has to prepare for our new QB 'in the dark' so to speak.

I like the quality opponent, just wish they didn't have a game up on us. But it'll be a good, early season road challenge for Bethel.

Bottom line with a wk 1 bye, we'll need some help/luck in the injury department. Staying healthy will be that much more important without a week to heal up mid-late season.

Then again, 7,125,567,923 people didn't.

Yeah, that's always hard.  For the past two seasons USTs' bye was week 11 so the guys were pretty banged up by then.  Hopefully you guys have some depth this year because 10 weeks straight will certainly test any team.

SUMMIT!!!!!

I know Tom Stock declared "facilities war" on UST a few months back I had heard Stock's goal was $100 million to fully overhaul all athletic facilities and upgrade them, including a domed football practice field.

Accoridng to today's St Cloud Crimes, SJU is breaking ground on new baseball AND soccer facilities! (I'd post the link but I refuse to pay for reading the article). Apparetnly this is the first volley in the "war". Oh NO!!!
After the game, the king and pawn go into the same box.

Italian proverb

Retired Old Rat

Maniac,

We make love, not war.  8-)

Hell, $100M, that would be considered petty cash for UST.
