78 days until kickoff. Anyone found a solution for listening to streaming RealMedia on an iPad yet?  I desperately want to lie in my warm bed on a Sunday morning at 4am with a pair of earphones this year.

Just in case Tom Stock or any of the Gagliardi's happen to read this post....It's time for SJU to get on board w/ live video web streaming.  If you keep finishing 2nd or 3rd in the league you won't have attendance issue to worry about anyway.  Start promoting and marketing the program by showing it on the web.

This is never going to happen with the current football leadership. I've made my thoughts known to the athletic department, even letting them know that I am more than willing to pay a lot of money to watch it streaming.
What frustrates me most is that all I get from athletic department officials is a shoulder shrug when the idea is brought up, like they're not even trying.
Has anyone attempted to talk to Gagliardi about this?  Didn't we previously figure out that the only films not given/available to a playoff opponent would be maybe the first two home games?

I think fears of a drop in attendance and loss in gate receipts also have a great deal to do with no web-stream.

There is marketing "science" around this problem which we discussed here once. SJU would not be the first organization to launch a new channel to market and fear the negative impacts of canabalization. Heck, there may even be some books somewhere that talk about this. Maybe even a teacher or two that knows something about it.

Anyway, ignorance is no excuse for inaction. It's an excuse for education.

I wonder why the radio doesn't canabalize gate receipts...

Any loss in gate receipt revenue would be made up through video stream subscription revenues from alums and fans that live in places like Georgia, Oregon, California, Australia... (did I miss anybody?)
However, there are some people that feel a PPV subscription service wouldn't be "inclusive" enough, meaning it would be cost prohibitive to those who are just curious about Johnnie football. The apprehension in the athletic department also stems from not wanting to deal with whining coaches from other sports that would want the same exposure for their respective sports (most notably basketball, hockey and baseball.)

I'm sure there is a PPV model that could exclude certain zip codes from receiving a feed. Then again, there are also ways to send a broadcast anywhere; as in a Slingbox type of product. Personally I believe  that alumni & friends outside of Minnesota could benefit greatly by having a video feed available to them, for the price of a season ticket..
As of now they're on DOUBLE SECRET Probation!

Looks like Ryan Hoag is going to be on the new season of ABC's Bachelor Pad.  Now, I have no clue what this show is, but can't Hoag just gracefully fade into oblivion???

Ryan Hoag was remembered for being a 28-year-old virgin back in 2008. I'm not too confident that much has changed since then, as he stated that he was saving himself for the right person.  Well, now he's 32 and before we know it he'll be back on ABC's The Bachelor as a real life 40-year-old virgin.

The truth is that when the Johnnies are on the road versus an opponent that utilizes video streaming I often do stay home to watch the game.  I've got two kids and a wife and there are only so many Saturdays I can say, "Bye....see you in a couple six or seven hours."  Also there's something kind of fun about hooking the computer up to a TV in the garage and drinking a couple 3-4 while watching the game.  I can also often watch SJU on the laptop and have another game going on the tele.

That's why Larry Kehres doesn't stream his games at Mount Union. You can only watch the game locally (on a delay), I believe.

Ummm... I streamed the 2010 Bethel-MTU playoff game live. As the home team MTU should have had the option to prevent that (unless there is something on the NCAA's books that would prevent them from exercising that right in an NCAA playoff scenario.)

The NCAA controls all rights in an NCAA tournament event.

Streaming SJU home games is the UST-to-D1 never dying thread of Collegeville.

This can't be about the money, we have plenty of evidence of people here willing to throw money at a service that nearly all of d3 provides for free.  How can you be that worried about money if you let thousands of students in to the games for free?

Here's a thought... Maybe John regrets the degree of commercialism (anyone for a pizza?) and hype that the games have already adopted.  Maybe this is his line in the sand, his "cold dead hands" moment.  Maybe part of the deal with doing things John's way with his No-How Coaching is that we have to do it his way, including the No's we don't like.

I've got no idea (see what I did there?), but seems like a deal to me.

We had a mild earthquake near Melbourne last night.  Very exciting for the girls who had to get out of bed and run around telling us how they felt it as they were reading before lights out.  It actually woke up #3!  OMG, dad!  It was also exciting for the news crews as TV programming was interrupted by breathless updates on clothes pins that fell out of baskets all by themselves and bird cages with more seeds on the bottom than normal!

Today, however, our fair city had to pick up the wreckage, such as it was...

I know I'm speaking out of my element here but I had to chime in.  As a full fledged football video geek it slays me to see SJU not do more with their video highlights.  I’ve watch highlight videos of SJU football in the past and while the editing is solid the videos are typically just coaches footage stringed together.

SJU has such a robust and rabid fan base that I have to imagine there are a number of alumni that are also A/V folks that would love to pitch in and help produce a high quality highlight videos that captures the essences of Clemens Stadium and SJU football.   The SJU alumni/fans would eat up Johnnie football videos that get you right in the action and would be a great bullet in the chamber for recruiting.
