I know I'm speaking out of my element here but I had to chime in.  As a full fledged football video geek it slays me to see SJU not do more with their video highlights.  I've watch highlight videos of SJU football in the past and while the editing is solid the videos are typically just coaches footage stringed together.

A bit of a mess in my hometown...certainly glad my family no longer lives there so that they don't have to deal with it, but I've got a lot of friends with wet basements...

The truth is that when the Johnnies are on the road versus an opponent that utilizes video streaming I often do stay home to watch the game.  I've got two kids and a wife and there are only so many Saturdays I can say, "Bye....see you in a couple six or seven hours."  Also there's something kind of fun about hooking the computer up to a TV in the garage and drinking a couple 3-4 while watching the game.  I can also often watch SJU on the laptop and have another game going on the tele.
This can't be about the money, we have plenty of evidence of people here willing to throw money at a service that nearly all of d3 provides for free.  How can you be that worried about money if you let thousands of students in to the games for free?

Here's a thought... Maybe John regrets the degree of commercialism (anyone for a pizza?) and hype that the games have already adopted.  Maybe this is his line in the sand, his "cold dead hands" moment.  Maybe part of the deal with doing things John's way with his No-How Coaching is that we have to do it his way, including the No's we don't like.

I've got no idea (see what I did there?), but seems like a deal to me.

This isn't just a John thing...it's got to be a departmental thing.  Most of the MIAC schools are webcasting sports other than football...hell even the Bennies webcast basketball and possibly even volleyball.  The Johnnies webcast nothing...which in this era makes them look amateur and out of touch (they did make the past season Bethel FB game available to some alums in Chicago and also streamed the final home) basketball game).

Streaming SJU home games is the UST-to-D1 never dying thread of Collegeville.

I'd like to say that SJU will video stream games long before UST goes D1...but you never know.  IMHO the idea of UST going D1 is beyond absurd and people that perpetuate the idea are dummmmerrrr than me.

Lived there four years in the '80s and this is tough to see. Polar bear and seal escaped from the zoo (both recaptured). Great town that gets some brutal weather.

I was almost back there this week but postponed the trip ... for a "stay-cation" in triple-digit hear index here in DC. Be glad you missed it, Duff.

Check this out as well...wet, wild and crazy.  Feisty the Sea Lion even escaped the zoo.  Sounds like a lot of animals didn't survive...tragic stuff.

QuoteA Duluth squad soon passed and he decided to follow and see where it was going. At that point, Melton noticed what he thought was an injured dog on the side of the road. He pulled over, walked over to check it out and found that the animal wasn't a dog, but a seal.

"I was a little dumbfounded," Melton laughed. "At first I had to think, 'Do we have seals? We don't have seals.'"

Woohoo!  Football news!

Seven Incoming Football Recruits, Rest of State All-Stars Begin Practice June 24 at SJU

Seven incoming Saint John's football student-athletes will participate at training camp June 24-30 at Clemens Stadium in preparation for the 39th Annual Minnesota High School All-Star Football Game, sponsored by the Minnesota Football Coaches Association (MFCA).

The 88 players will be the first to practice on the new Sprinturf surface in Clemens Stadium and will utilize SJU's field house, The Donald McNeely Spectrum, during inclement weather.

But my favorite information from this article is this little nugget...

The seven All-Stars is the largest group of incoming Johnnies since nine played in the 1997 All-Star game.

Ominous since, MIAC, ominous signs...

I'll be in Collegeville this Sunday and Thursday and Friday.  I'll have to check out the turf and some of the All-Star practice.

The new turf at Clemens Stadium is nearly complete!
Sing us a song, you're the piano man
Sing us a song tonight
Well, we're all in the mood for a melody
And you've got us feelin' alright.

Except for the end zones.  Jimmy tweeted that the end zone lettering came in red--might be tough to see.  That little boo-boo will be fixed after the all-star game.

A tradition unrivaled...
MIAC Champions: '32, '35, '36, '38, '53, '62, '63, '65, '71, '74, '75, '76, '77, '79, '82, '85, '89, '91, '93, '94, '95, '96, '98, '99, '01, '02, '03, '05, '06, '08, '09, '14, '18, '19, '21, '22, '24

Did St. Johns even produce a 2011 highlight film?  I know they did one for the 2010 season, but I haven't seen anything for last season.

Flood pictures from Duluth at PowerLine (a conservative Minnesota blog that is totally non-political in this post.  Just don't look at any of the other post titles if conservative political pugilism sets you off.).  Pretty crazy.

That requires having more than one highlight to produce.....
As of now they're on DOUBLE SECRET Probation!
