SUMMIT!!!!!

Strib-styled journalism at its best:

Headline: "Little League Baseball: Connecticut Team Advances"

story text:  California defeated Connecticut, eliminating CT

my question-- how do you advance by being eliminated?

Following this Strib-logic, I guess Mac, St Bens, St. Mary's and St. Kate's are the MIAC football favorites..... and maybe Hamline can win the Legends Division  :)
After the game, the king and pawn go into the same box.

Check out "Foobaw Primer" podcast by our own sfury... SJU mentions pick up around 17 minutes in...

I hope he's wrong about this year being similar to last year's 6-4. Also, any members of SJU '97 please call him, he sounds lonely  :(

Thanks for posting, Fins. Expect  the occasional Johnnie post/rant/celebration/obituary during the season.

I am lonely! Of course I'm also horrible at making new friends so blame myself for the fact I'm in contact with two people from my time at SJU, one of them being Robert Zimmerman and he's from my hometown, for god's sake.

I didn't get a chance to explain more about Johnnies, as I don't want Terry to get sick of my Johnnie talk. I think they'll be better, hopefully could be really good if QB, defense are there. I'm predicting 10-0, damn it. Yes, I say and type different things in different mediums.

Also, for those who listen, apologies for sound on my end. Terry has the state of the art setup at his joint but I often sound like I'm in a tunnel, possibly beneath the NYC streets.

I feel the same way about this... Waldvogel finds end zone again and again in GFL http://tommiesports.com/ftbl/news/Fritz_8-20.html

Imagine playing for a team called the Unicorns - it's like an under 7 girls' soccer team (next game for the Unicorns is against the Pretty Ponies!).   8-)   Ah, well, one of the teams in the Japanese X League is called (English translation) the "Gas Creators" - which I think would be worse. :P

Maybe the Gas Creators are really Pipers? Think what their mascot would look like :o

Would be hard for any mascot to have a better week than the Cobber's Kernel, though...

Concordia's mascot "Kernel" popped in at the No.2 spot on the Cheeto's inaugural ranking of the top 25 "Cheesiest" mascots in all of college.

Clingin' to his flagon of beans. The Piper.

Living in a Commonwealth nation I've found that I'm up for workplace harassment if I happen to mention there's a giant cob running around the field at some games back home.

And, speaking of recruiting, you have to wonder how a week at Camp Ripley works for the Pipers...

Sounds enticing.

I reckon their working on a secret play they'll just call the Ypres. Defensive linemen best beware when they're slightly down wind and fighting hard in the trenches.

Shocked that Cheetos came up with that idea and not the Bleacher Report. Seems tailor made for one of their horrific slideshows.

They look rather, um, athletic.

Finsleft, that would be a great idea. Speaking of potential guests at Johnnie games this fall, I talked to Governor Mark Dayton and Terri Traen from KQRS last evening about making it up to a Johnnie game and the Stiftungsfestivities. They both seemed very interested. As Dusty would say, this is developing.

A reminder that tomorrow evening the Stiftungsfest celebration in Norwood Young America begins. Hairball will be playing at 9:00 p.m. Great band, especially if you are into the 80's rock music. I hope to see you there!

Johnnie, seems like we've seen this request to Terri Traen several times in the past. And she hasn't ever appeared, has she? I think we might need to set our sights lower, especially now that the Johnnies aren't on their run of dominance. Perhaps a DJ from KXLP in Mankato or something.

Or a writer from New York City.

That'll never happen, this account is a hoax, as is my persona, ala JT LeRoy.

Hey, I was back last year, but didn't make it to parking lot. Really fun game too -- Augsburg.
