1st calling natural bowl Clemens Stadium
then taking out grass
then installing (sic) lights
Now no red stripe
What next?

Taking the numbers off the helmets?
Returning to baby blue?   :'(

Then:
cutting out the hill on the home side
planting trees on the hills between the stands and the scoreboard, blocking the view of about 1,000 fans
putting up an ugly brick wall on the north end
kicking kids off the field at halftime (they used to tell them it was to protect the grass)
incessant advertising
lose to the Tommies

Yesterday I watched an independent AU film "Snowtown" about John Bunting.  Fild description says he is AU's worst serial killer, is that true?  I thought only the good old USA produced that levelf whack job!

Serial killer, probably.  11 people is a lot.

The biggest thing I've learned about being overseas is that nowhere is better than the good old Anglo-sphere and the New-Anglo, like the US and Oz, is the best of the bunch.  It helps to remember the old adage that plane crashes get so much news because they are so rare.  A quick peek at Wikipedia and I see that Columbia has had two notable serial killers, one with over 300 victims and another with 140.  Some guy in India killed over 900!  Makes Jeffrey Dahmer look like amateur hour.

EDIT:  Even the most infamous serial killer in the Anglo-sphere, Jack the Ripper, only killed five for sure, though there are up to 11 additional murders around the same time that may be related.  My point is that your belief is exactly backwards.  The good ol' USA doesn't produce a high level whack job but a remarkably low level one.  The murdering crazies have a much freer hand in the parts of the world where serial killing is pushed under the carpet rather than into the sunlight.

Oz,
Are the Columbian serial killings related in any way to the drug trade (gangland)?

There are things you want to be known for, such as medical research, and other things you don't want to be known for and infamous serial killers, I believe, would be one of about a half-dozen things I'd be proud the USA doesn't lead the world in.

Closed circuit to Pat- if you want we can start a Serial Killers thread for housekeeping purposes  ;)

Google Alexander Pichuskin, a Russian serial killer.  He makes John Bunting look like a Boy Scout.  Unfortunately for humanity every nation in the world has these wack jobs.

So, is there any possible way to make this seriously off-topic discussion even remotely related to Minnesota with an amazingly coincidental piece of information?  Why yes there is.

Little House on the Prairie, now with serial killers.

Not to be confused with the cereal killer.

It is now official! ;D Governor Mark Dayton will be attending the Johnnie-Tommie game on September 15 in Collegeville! I had the privilege of extending an invitation to make it up to a Johnnie game to Siri Freeh, Ms. Minnesota 2012, this past Sunday at the Stiftungsfest celebration. She was there for the Miss Stiftungsfest coronation program. I will keep you posted once I hear back from her business manager.

That's good news for the Stiftungfestivities. I wish I could go. The rivalry and tension in the science lot will be as great as what we find in the stadium.

Just finished reading the inaugural Around the West column of the 2012 season. I think he nails the 10 most significant games for the region. As far as we can tell at this point.

Here's a related question. What would we deem the most under the radar MIAC games in terms of importance? So, games that will be significant (either for a program or determining the league champ) but probably aren't as high profile as some of the obvious biggies.

Here's a few I can think of:

9/8: SJU v. UWEC - Is this really under the radar? Probably not for either team. But the Tommie - Johnnie game a week later always casts a long shadow. If SJU gets a W they will enter the Holy Grail with legit confidence. A loss sends SJU into the key stretch of their season on their heels and possibly off to a 1-2 start.

9/15: Concordia v. St. Olaf - It's a rivalry. Concordia loses here and they probably start out MIAC play 0-3 and still have UST looming later in the season. St. Olaf's schedule sets up nicely, toughest games are spaced out, so an early season win in a relative rivalry gets solid confidence.

9/15: Augsburg v. GAC - Auggie should win this. But its a winnable stepping stone game for GAC if they intend to return to prominence down the road.

9/29: SJU v. St. Olaf - SJU is looking to return to elite MIAC status and Olaf is looking to prove they belong with the top 3. This game is essential for either to do that.

10/6: Bethel v. Concordia - A week before Bethel plays UST, they could get caught looking ahead. Concordia is coming out of SJU and St. Olaf. Could mean very little, but a W might mean a lot for the Cobbers making an unexpected run or Bethel maintaining a collision course with UST.

11/10: UST v. St. Olaf - Recently, people talk about UST vs. SJU (rivalry) and Bethel (MIAC title). Very possible the MIAC title is totally up for grabs heading into the last game of the season. If St. Olaf is still in the hunt they will be a very legitimate challenge on Nov. 10.

11/10: Hamline v. Mac - Probably the most winnable game on the Pipers schedule. If Hamline can't win this game, why is it Mac is the team not competing in the MIAC? A loss probably means Hamline finishes 0-10 2 years running.

Agree? Others I'm not noticing?
