So from what I understand you can find Veek here today: http://www.littlefallsmnchamber.com/arts.htm
Veek, I thought I saw you in the picture.
Should be an interesting day in Eau Claire-is SJU back? Can Eau Claire coaches blow another game? All leading up to next week and big show down-will it be like 2011 or like 1993?

Zip, I did drive through LF today but did NOT attend the Arts & Crafts Fair.

Fins - sorry for not replying to your post.  I didn't see it until now.  Tweet me next time.

Great win for the Johnnies today.  Really looking forward to next weekend's clash behind the Pine Curtain.  GO JOHNNIES!
Go Johnnies!!!

I was checking out the Tommies roster and noticed a new addition: Anthony King-Foreman, the son of former Vikings all-pro running back Chuck Foreman.  He's from Eden Prairie and played at Augustana last season.  Apparently he was a pretty good baseball player too so I wonder if he'll play both at UST.

So let me just throw this out there.

Mac is clearly improving. Their records are hovering around .500 and maybe even moving north of there. The competition isn't incredible, but it seems to be slowly rising as well. Today's win was a nice showing.

Is it realistic to think that in 2-3 years they could be ready to return to the MIAC? They're definitely better than Hamline at this point (they also left the MIAC when they were that level as well).

Just wondering. Maybe they've got no desire to return. But I think they said when they departed that once they felt they could compete they'd come back. Is that realistic in a few years? Not that they'll be competing for a title, but that they could be respectable?

Agreed....they've got a football program.  If they want stay in the conference it's time to man up.

So, I saw the Johnnie home opener in person and listened yesterday online.  It's much more fun this year than last, that's for sure.

Couple observations:

Bruns seems solid at this point.  He can get the job done.

Freetly's a very solid TE.  The Johnnies over the years use the TE well, and he is a big part of the offense.

The running game doesn't seen quite as dynamic as I thought it would be with Johnson and Schneider.

I was psyched by the added size in the DL, but that didn't seem to help much against Sweeney yesterday

The stats from yesterday show, other than Dammerman, our front 7 didn't make all that many tackles.  Maybe just that there was a lot of substitution up front so no one got that many stops??

The stats say SJU isn't using the RB's as receivers as much as in the past.  I felt/saw that against NWC, and stats said no RB's caught passes yesterday.  What's up with that?

I kind of thought PK Jimmie Matson was kind of "flaky" in the past, but he does a pretty damn good job after all.  I'm confident when he comes in there, more confident that the coaches I'd say.

The Johnnies may not beat the Tommies or Bethel, but they turned the corner some yesterday, got some swagger back.  UWEC is not probably going to contend in the WIAC, but they are a solid club with some solid players.  The Johnnies handled them pretty well.  I'm looking forward to being in Collegeville next weekend.

So, any thoughts on next week's game at Clemens? Hopefully much better than last years, for the sake of everyone involved. I'm thinking multi-TD win for UST. We just need to shore up that pass defense.

Can get the Vikes here, but late in the first half it appears Cecil Shorts has more yardage than AP....

Time will tell.
They both beat a common opponent by 3 points.
They both easily handled another opponent that they should have - SJU vs. NWC & UST vs. UWRF
It looks to me to be a pick-em game. The team with the least amount of mistakes wins.
As of now they're on DOUBLE SECRET Probation!

How 'bout those Vikings?  Go Niners!

There's a game at Clemens this week?  Is Mac coming in?

tmerton

How 'bout those Niners!  First win at Green Bay in 22 years - what a depressing statistic.

The NFC Central standings will look weird this week - Green Bay all alone in last place! ;D

Having watched both uwec games on video-I would put SJU at a 7 point favorite if I didn't know about last year. With that said-maybe pick'em. SJU will be getting UST early and that will be a good thing.

We were camping this weekend.  I caught the first few drives of the SJU game.  Since it seemed to be going the way of a slaughter, we went hiking instead of wallowing in my disgust.  Got back shortly before the lightning delay, bewildered at the score.  Looks like this year's Johnnies have some spunk!

Looking forward to this weekend--lots of factors going into whether we will make it to the game, but I hope the stars align for me to be there...and for a Johnnie win.

I wouldn't be concerned about that.  Tackles made up front are difficult to accurately credit, and rarely does the guy(s) that made the tackle get the credit.  Granted, I wasn't there, but I wouldn't put too much faith in that stat.

Johnnie Red

Duffman, you need to make it up to the Johnnie-Tommie game this Saturday so you can see your picture in the game day program! :D Another great weekend in the city of Carver with Steamboat Days! The Johnny Holm Band played Saturday night and the downtown was rocking. Yesterday Michele Bachmann was in the parade along with Buck "Rock-N-Roll" Zumhofe. Buck put on a midget wrestling show after the parade. Always interesting to watch that.
