Fascinating. I didn't know his players called him "John" and that there wasn't any tackling at his practices.

Bench, you are slowing down since your nuptials.  Previously, you would have posted that comment in 30 minutes or less.   :o 8-)

There seems to be some Johnnie optimism based upon the pick-em's.  Only 3 of 12 pickers so far have the Tommies covering the spread despite the spread being 42.5 points less than the margin of victory last year.  Everybody loves an underdog.  I would never have guessed that just a few years after I was bitterly disappointed that the Johnnies came through after the botched non-TD call, that I'd be hoping that the Tommies are brought back down to earth by a resurgent Collegeville squad.

The result last year was something I feared going into the game.  I never thought it could be as bad as it was, but I feared a blow out.

This year, I feel much differently.  These are NOT the same two teams.  The Tommie difference makers on offense are gone.  I think we've discovered some difference makers in Bruns, Freetley, Forster, Voshell.  The defense is much better, more size on the line.

I like the Johnnies chances.

DoubleO

Protect the pill + clean up the penalties and I like our chances of coming home having won 2 in a row up there. Roll Tommies Roll!

I know I know. Came to work in jeans today, then I had to go put a suit on. Apparently the judges here don't know the weekend starts on Thursday, so steamed.

I agree. 2011 was a cluster#8&% of epic proportion. I won't predict a score, but I believe that AO is using illegal substances with the line he set on this game. 8-)
As of now they're on DOUBLE SECRET Probation!

This University of St. Thomas senior walks into a bar over in Minneapolis, and is about to order a drink when he sees a guy close by wearing a St. John's sweatshirt and ball cap. He doesn't have to be an Einstein to know that this guy is a Johnny.

So he shouts over to the bartender, so everyone can hear, "Drinks for everyone in here, bartender, but not for that damn Johnny over there."

Soon after the drinks have been handed out, he notices that the Johnny is smiling, and waves to him and says, "Thank you."

This infuriates the Tommy, and in a loud voice, he once again orders, "Drinks for everyone except that St. John's guy."

But as before, this does not seem to worry the Johnny who continues to smile and  again says, "Thank you."

So the furious Tommy growls at the bartender, "What's the matter with that stupid guy wearing the St. John's stuff?  I've ordered two rounds of drinks for everyone in the bar except him, and all he does is smile and thank me...Is he nuts?

"Nope," replies the bartender.  "He owns the place."

(Thanks Wick!)

For Bench:

The day after a verdict had been entered against his client, USTBench rushes to the judge's chambers, demanding that the case be reopened. "I have new evidence that makes a huge difference in my client's defense."

"What new evidence could you have?"

And Bench roars, "I've learned that my client has $10,000 that I didn't know about."

Now that's funny.

Kind of reminds of the one where a Minnesota State Highway Patrolman pulls over the CSB dance team's bus. Kind of a long joke but the punchline is, "Hey, leave the livestock out of this!"

I would trade 1,000 of these stories for a MIAC Championship and a trip to the Stagg Bowl.
Sing us a song, you're the piano man
Sing us a song tonight
Well, we're all in the mood for a melody
And you've got us feelin' alright.

What's the word on the Tommie passing game?
I was a bit stunned to see that the Toms offense attempted 54 passes against UWRF and 37 against UWEC.
Whatever happened to establishing the run first?

Now that surprises me.  The first time you forget a birthday or anniversary and your "pay attention skills" will be sharpened up. All that money spent on Summit to no affect when all that was needed were vows of indentured servitude. Tommie's never cease to amaze me.
