Well, if SJU isn't gonna use their Johnnie Magic, someone else at least should!

;D

That was one of the wilder conclusions to a game that I've ever seen.  I don't envy A) big #93 who scooped up that fumble and started running when simply diving on it would have ended the game, or even more so B) the fellas who decided to run on the field during an active play, costing their team a big win.

VERY long ride home for the Cobbers I'm sure, which is a shame, because they played their hearts out.

I had the same thought about BU taking advantage of the unused magic this year...

SUMMIT!!!!!

When was the last time SJU finished last in the MIAC?
Betting even Hamline is a favorite over SJU.

1- Good question--
2- It's not that bad is it?!?

1-1929 SJU was 0-4 & last....1945 they were 1-4 with 3 teams 0-1 below them
After the game, the king and pawn go into the same box.

Oh, that's gonna be a brutal drive up 94. But, they're still in this thing. With UST, Augsburg and St. Olaf still to play they absolutely control their destiny. You never want to lose, especially that way. Having your back against the wall like this can sometimes galvanize a team though.

On a different note. Seemed like some great sportsmanship on the field. Multiple Concordia and Bethel players helping each other off the ground, acknowledging hard hits and plays, etc. Love these kind of games. Both teams played their guts out, were physical all day and respected each other throughout.

Adding insult to injury (literally)- Max Forster on crutches and Jake King in street clothes at halftime with his thigh wrapped.

This is a season where if anything can go wrong for SJU,it will.

As they say on Shark Week, The blood is in the water. Every team in the league sees that SJU is down & battered & they know they may not get another chance like this in a long time.

The Johnnies coaching staff better not look past the Carleton Knights.

It will be interesting to see what attendance next week in Collegeville will be.

***Also, just to fan the flames for the conspiracy theorists, Mike Grant was walking the SJU sideline today. ???
As of now they're on DOUBLE SECRET Probation!

Very true...a lot of fun left to be had in the MIAC this year...looking at the schedule remaining for BU, the Hamline game is the lone week on the schedule that doesn't make me at least a little nervous.  Not quite what I was thinking, pre-season.

Concordia, Augsburg, and UST's respective games against each other will all be interesting matchups...

It's been a few years since I have posted on the boards, but after todays showing in Mpls I felt it was time to dust off the old password (Honestly had to guess, but hey I got it on the first try!) and throw my two cents in.  The day has finally come where most of us old Johnnies have dread, actually it was probably here five years ago but who's counting, where John needs to hand the reins to the next generation.  Has the game passed him by?  No, you don't forget how football works just because you get old, however it's quite obvious that a man in his mid 80's dosen't have the energy to correctly run the team.  As much as John says he has no hobbies and that football is his life, losing games the way SJU is doing this year will kill him sooner then retiring and having nothing to do ever would have done.  It's hard to watch his legacy ending this way, as well as watching the program I had a part in continuing and building tradition for, crumble to the ground.  I hope the powers that be in Collegeville understand what needs to happen once John steps down and his unique style of coaching is over (AKA, fulltime assistant coaches that recruit off campus, not just one or two guys on the staff.) and have plans in place to be implemented.  Congrats to the rest of the league for their accomplishments, it's now our turn to sit back and watch you untill we get our house back in order!
The last shall be first and the  shall be... FIRST AGAIN!!!

GAC is clearly improving. Even their noncon win against Simpson is more impressive than I originally thought. The Storm are 4-1 and have beaten Wartburg and Central in back to back weeks.

Top to bottom, this is the most competitive I can remember the conference being in a while. Since maybe the early 2000's?? SJU, GAC, UST, BU, Conc were all usually competitive games then. St. Olaf wasn't bad and Hamline was much better than they are now. Carleton was worse and MAC was horrendous.

OldAuggie

The Auggies looked good today and they seem to be improving each week. Against Bethel they dominated the stats but the score told a different story. This week the coaches solved that problem. I agree that the conference is very competitive this year. Looking forward to the second half of the season with some nice matchups coming up.

Watched the final minutes. Amazing. Great atmosphere at Arden Hills. The call  looked solid to me and the still pics verify it too.

Sad fact for the Cobbers ... that penalty was their only one of the game.

D O.C.

As a sports fan I hate what's happening in Collegeville.

As a sportsman I am happy I went on the field to shake John's hand in 2003 and incurred the wrath of the LINFIELD AD as the NCAA says that's a no-no.

So it's down to being a spoiler and beating St. T.

sju56321

SJU already lost to them. Maybe beat Bethe-but I doubt it. Just praying for a win over Hamline. How sad.

Nice piece Section.

Aryton Scott, the Augsburg QB that I noted after the scrimmage here with Stout in August appears to be the real deal in the regular season as well. Anybody that loves football should go watch Augsburg just to see this player. He is fun to watch play the game.
