Attention Bennie or anyone who has expertise in admissions & financial aid matters.

I stumbled across this page on the UST website regarding scholarships and found it odd that a student could transfer to UST and receive up to $15K per year simply by being a full time student and carrying a 2.0 GPA. So I looked at the scholarship/financial aid sections of various (not all) MIAC schools. Here is what I found.

Augsburg has a transfer scholarship, but requires a 3.0 GPA. I thought a 3.0 GPA is reasonable to receive a scholarship.

Bethel, as far as I could see offered need based as well a academic scholarship with GPA much higher than 2.0

Concordia, has Transfer Scholarships of up to $15,000 and only states that it is based on GPA, but does not indicate the minimum GPA

St. Olaf offers a Buntrock Scholarship up to $18,000 where a student's potential in considered instead of strictly driven by GPA & test scores.

SJU/CSB  offers a variety of need based & academic scholarships.

The things that stuck me as odd on the UST Transfer Scholarships were the range from $1,000 - $15,000 and the 2.0GPA. There was no report and I'm not sure if they track if award winners are in various lines of study. An example would be a business student would be more or less likely to get a Transfer Scholarship than a Pre-Law student. Also, not knowing if athletes had a greater percentage of these types of scholarships than the general population and closer to the top end of the award rather than the lower end of the award.

Just looking for some discussions because there seems to be a wide variety of scholarships and how they are awarded from school to school in the MIAC.
As of now they're on DOUBLE SECRET Probation!

I think instead of calling the capital campaign "Opening Doors"  it maybe should have been named the
Opening Endzones, Closing Down the Run Campaign    ;D

Since I did such a good job stiring up a hornet nest with my fellow Johnnies when I posed the question regarding recruiting and having to live on campus all four years earlier this week, here's my next fanning the flames question I'm going to pose to the board.  Who was the first MIAC football team to simulcast their football games live?     ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
The last shall be first and the  shall be... FIRST AGAIN!!!

I know Hamline has had a live webcast for several years, but I'm not sure they are the first. What the heck, I guess the Pipers.

I'm pretty sure I know who will be the last MIAC team with a live webcast--56321  ;)

A two second stop in.  Ol'67 is crafty.  I bet he means a simulcast of a video with radio track. And I bet he means a broadcast as in accomplished, not necessarily released for broad access. And I bet the answer is a lot closer to collegeville than any Johnnie expected.

See you on the weekend.

I think the Oline must play its most complete game to date. Protecting Peterson is crucial. And this is the best front 7 we've faced so far. This is the biggest key. Execution, turnovers, penalties, big plays...they're always crucial for both sides. But the game gets decided by how Bethel's Oline can establish the LOS and protect its QB against a formidable opponent.

I agree that a prime key will be the play of BU's Oline. To me, it looked like CC's Dline did such a good job of controlling the LOS that the BU line jumped the count trying to gain whatever edge they could create. That's where the - way too many - procedure penalties came from.

The other side of the ball - the BU DLine has to generate a stronger rush on the QB. Again referring to the CC game, the CC QB had a long time to find his open receiver. That will be a serious problem this week.

I do love the BU linebacker play! And Peterson has shown himself to be much more than a place-holder at QB.
Better a Has-been than a Never-was. Better a Never-was than a Never-tried-to-be.

"Legendary'' doesn't do justice to St. John's football coach John Gagliardi. He's the all-timer as winner, innovator and unique personality.

There are growing hints this season _ John's 60th at Collegeville _ is going to be his last. We should know more by this time next week.

If and when Gag announces his retirement, there will be aggressive coaching search that figures to start _ & probably end _ in Eden Prairie.

For those not on Twitter, Pat Reusse dropped the above earlier this morning. There's been plenty of speculation on these boards and with Frank on his weekly chats. This though is the first time it's been addressed by someone not "connected" to the program. Though Reusse is a big MIAC supporter and is plugged in.

That's totally a scheme thing. Against CC's offense we are forced to do different things with our LB's, which are normally as much a part of our pressure package in the 3-4 as the Dline. That's a concession you have to make against the Cobbers. Your first concern has to be to stop the run against a team with an offense like that, knowing that to do it you'll have to sacrifice your ability to bring pressure in some situations. They did a pretty good job in that department. Horan did a good job Saturday (better than in the past) of mixing in passes on running downs knowing the defensive call would likely limit the pressure. And they utilized a quick hitting 'jump' pass on several occasions as well, which you'll never be able to pressure.

Against a more traditional offense this week, I expect to see our more pressure heavy 3-4 look. The Dline and LB's will be back in their normal mode. But O'Connell can run well and they'll have to be mindful of contain as well this week.

Ive always said I wouldnt want to be the guy that replaces John---- I want to be the guy that replaces that guy....as far as hiring Grant goes--ask Notre Dame or Hamline how hiring a nationally known high school coach works out.  Plus I dont see grant giving up the cu$h $etup he has at EPH$ ..close circuit to tom stock-- roney is available  :)

I think the situations at Notre Dame & Hamline are far different than what any coach, HS, college, pro, would be walking into at SJU. The fear, anxiety and anger coming from SJU supporters pales in comparison to what happens at and around ND during poor seasons. As for Hamline, I'll let their history speak for themselves.

Stunningly beautiful photography.  No doubt, St. Thomas has a beautiful campus, especially for an urban setting.  As a (very) amateur architecture critic my only complaint would be two Anderson buildings.  I don't care for their massive scale.  I understand being landlocked position necessitated the scale.
