A change of pace a bit, but was at the Ryder Cup a couple of weeks ago (on Friday & Saturday) and was totally shocked that the group of Viking fans (the ones in full garb who were prominently displayed on TV a couple of times) included none other than Flip Saunders. Complete in his AP jersey. What is old Flip up to these days?

Not gonna lie, it's looking more and more possible that Gags could retire at seasons end. Just weird to think about. Although I've gotta think, if they win 3 of their next 4 and at least salvage a .500 record that would make sticking around more likely. It would just seem fitting for him to fight it out for one more season and leave on a bit of an upswing. If they finish below .500, seems like anything goes.

Sadness, but it has to happen one day.  I take comfort in the fact that this article is very likely to be wrong.  Doubly so as it comes from the Strib and it also fails to carry the sfury byline.

UST hosting Bethel should be a good game & has been mentioned before that the O-line of the Royals will have their hands full.

Both coaches are known for unconventional play calling so this one could be decided on a 2-pt. conversion.

As of now they're on DOUBLE SECRET Probation!

The work week ends with the Trib story on coach Gagliardi and starts with me talking to Kris Humphries of the Brooklyn Nets in St. Cloud this past Monday. No Kim Kardashian sighting. :'(

You say that as if it were a bad thing, Sir. ;)

Good luck to former Auggie DT and current Edina asst. coach Jason van Houten as his #2 Hornets travel to EP to take on the #1 Eagles tonight.

Confirmation that I'm getting old and out of touch:  I just found out yesterday what Gangnam Style is.  Crazy, I know...now get off my lawn. ;D  Here's the Oregon Duck version.

The artist formerly known as Carl Spackler... it's nice to be back!

Adversity doesn't build character; it reveals it.

Finally, finally you end your reign of lying.  ;D

This could be one of the shortest games of all time.  Both teams play it very close to the vest and keep it on the ground.  When Edina played Hopkins the game started at 6:00 pm and I was in my car by about 8:30.  The team that can sustain drives and not turn the ball over wins...I think the Hornets have a chance.

Let's see...another sad Johnnie game or pheasant hunting?  I'm gonna hafta side with the blaze orange tomorrow.

As the retirement rumors swirl, is there any sense from you Johnnie fans about wanting to see what may turn out to be the last games of John's career? Or is the product on the field just so painful you don't want to see it end like this? Honest questions.

Not a lot of confidence for a home game against a team that has never beaten SJU and has won games against Grinnell, Macalester and Hamline by a combined 14 points.  If SJU can't win this game 0-8 becomes a possibility.

I played during the SJU-dominant 1999-2002 years.  If John is slipping as suggested, I'd prefer not to witness the carnage--I have some incredible memories of him in his prime.

Tomorrow won't be his last home game.

I do plan to be in attendance on the 27th.   8-)
