President of Bethel University spoke at my church this morning, here in the Washington D.C. Area. He spoke on many things outside of football, but did mention that they too have a great athletic program.

Dr. Barnes is a great guy! What church do you attend out there in D.C.?

Does a win next week vs. St. Olaf give the purple machine a chance to become the #1 seed in the West region?
not without a Linfield loss.  Altho Linfield is a purple machine too  :)

I liked Pat's projected brackets on Friday, but BU really messed that up....Cord did too, but could sneak in with a strong showing Sat. Cobbers do NOT want Olaf to beat UST because then Olaf would be more likely to get in than them (if a 2 loss team makes it).  Bethel could still be a factor in Pool C but needs to put a major can of whoopass on SJU to hold onto any slim hopes they have and also cant afford to have Olaf win.

St Olaf is a good football team this year, should do good in the postseason, let see how far they can make it in the playoffs.

Why are three CCIW teams ranked above both Bethel and Concordia, not to mention quite a few other 7 - 2 teams. I thought the Non-Conference record of the MIAC would at least buy a little respect. As Bugs Bunny would say, "What a bunch of ultra maroons."

My gut reaction after yesterday's games is that both Concordia and Bethel don't stand a chance for post season aspirations. But if we look at next week's games we all see the probability that St. Olaf will get hammered by the Tommies, just like the Cobbers yesterday and the Royals did earlier in the season. The Cobbers should win over Gustavus and Bethel should win against the Johnnies - but anything can happen and it usually does. Over on the Pool C discussion board the SOS scores and other such things are posted for the remaining bids for the dance at the end of the season. There it still looks probable that the MIAC might get 3 schools into the post-season - but, and it's a big but, some other teams close to them in percentage points used by the selection committee have to stumble in this last week of play. Somewhere out there a fat lady is getting ready to sing, and then we'll know what's what for the post season.

The Vikings were live down here today and good God do they suck. Ponder is more timid than a beaten dog and the defence leaks like a rusty faucet.  Three hours of a rare day off wasted on those damned dummies. Sheesh.

For those that know much more about this than me (i.e. Pat):

Is there any chance the UMAC chosen-out-of-a-hat contest winner St. Scholastica gets shifted to the North/Oskosh region to accommodate for another Group C team out of the powerful west region?

Pool C bids aren't determined by region.  They could choose 7 teams from the same region to receive the pool c bids.  They set up the brackets after selecting the teams.

AO, I know and that is sort of my point.

Because the west has many of the strongest Pool C candidates, I was wondering what the likelihood of shifting a team that likely would be in the "west" or Linfield bracket out to the "north" or Oskosh bracket.

The subliminal question was, assuming that the Tommies are #2 in the "west" bracket, is St. Thomas going to piss pound the Saints again this year or might they get someone else?

They definitely could get someone else, no doubt. Anyone within 500 miles who doesn't have a home game of its own is at least in theory a candidate to get sent to St. Thomas. We will take a look at more possibilities later in the week.

i don't think we can make assumptions about Oshkosh being in the North or St. Thomas being #2 in the West.  The North region seems likely to get more pool C candidates than the West.

Anything can happen but as of today odds are looking very strong of seeing St. Thomas v St. Scholastica II.

Two tickets available for the Gophers versus Southern Baptist tonight in hoops.  No charge.  You Bethel guys should be all over this.  Seats are half court, row 16.  First one to send me a pm.
