Did I mention that a high school in the area whose games I sometimes attend is Bigfoot HS in Walwaorth. WI. Is that the Bigfoot to whom you referred?

Maybe Tressel takes over again. Could be a Bill Snyder type success/return story.

My cousin's hubby was a really good running back under Tressel and was on the last team to beat the Johnnies, in 1994, and they nearly beat them in '96. I know he's suffered watching what happened to the program. Hamline did actually have good years. Between '88 and '96 Hamline was 3-6 against Johnnies and aside from '93's 69-0 game, they were all tight.

Maybe Caruso to Hamline?
Maybe Jimmy Gagliardi to Hamline?!?  ;) ;D

I would think that Tressel would have the inside track if he chooses to pursue it,but Jimmy may also throw his hat in the ring depending on what John decides after this weekend. I know Hazzben was joking but it may not be too far fetched. Also there is Kurt Rambler still available or any number of assistant coaches from UST or UWW or Mt. Union who may want a head coaching gig.
another name to keep in the mix...Meidt. Id say he is far more likely than Jimmy G or Tressel. Tressel would be more of the same-- older guy looking to ride out his career, not a fireball wanting to make a name for himself....I cant even imagine Jimmy applying. I just cant see him coaching anywhere without "John-security".

Also, there are aeveral metro-area hs coaches would be strong candidates....not even counting anyone from the Lake Conference

retagent, Walworth? You ever spend any time at Chucks? May be my favorite watering hole anywhere. We're in Fontana during the summers quite a bit.

I've been there once or twice. There are a number of places closer to my home that get my business. A friend and I stumbled onto Bigfoot HS about 5 years ago when we were looking for some Friday night activity, and they were playing another nearby school. We liked what we saw, and have periodically attended some of their games. They've won a WI Div 4 title, and looked to be poised to do that again this year.

While we see that there are 3 MIAC teams ranked in football, I just saw that there are also 3 MIAC Golf teams rated in the Top 10 (Coaches Poll) SJU #5, Gustavus #7, and UST # 10.  Four Women's Golf Teams are rated in the Top 25. St Olaf #10, Gustavus #13, Carleton #21, and UST #22.

Alright....how many of you out there think that tomorrow is the end of the road for John Gagliardi as coach of the Johnnies?

Put me down for a yes vote (after voting no twice on Tuesday maybe I just want to vote yes on something)
From my perspective the photo ops and spending time on the field after the GAC game tell a lot.  I think sometime between Sunday and the following Saturday an announcement will be made that he is retiring.

I'd be surprised by Meidt for several reasons. First, I've heard he's pretty well left coaching in the rearview and is basically doing his best to climb the corporate ladder now. Second, say what you want about the guy, but he's uber competitive and hates losing. Taking over Hamline is a lot different than taking over St. Olaf and I'm sure that's not lost on Meidt. It was no mistake that he applied for the Cobber and Olaf positions. He wanted an environment where he thought he could win.

All that said, if there was a guy who could turn things around at Hamline, he'd be a guy who could do it. I think it would take a good deal longer than it did at Olaf, but he could eventually get them into the 7-3 mix.

Of course, the best part about this arrangement would be the way Caruso and Meidt would be right down the road from each other. Something tells me those two personalities would be like oil and water  :D

Concordia just got a big boost from the committee as Wittenberg is blocking Wheaton and Ohio Wesleyan.  Cobber fans have a good shot if Widener, Waynesburg and Cal Lu can avoid upsets this week.

The cobbers just need to win and they will be in the playoffs.  I am not to worried since I will be hunting again.  Football should end at the end of Oct.  Why play into December.  It just doesn't make sense.  :o

AO's right here. Both Bethel and Concordia need to win to ensure they're in the discussion. But if 1 or 2 of the 3 teams AO lists were to lose we'd be in trouble. It pushes more 1 loss teams into the Pool C discussion and makes things precarious for any and all 2 loss teams.
