Hey,St. Thomas, you better win big and hope the game is not on the West Coast.
No more LUCKY fumbles in overtime.

Hey Linfield, don't get ahead of yourself...last time I checked your playing UW Oshkosh this weekend. I suggest you take care of the task at hand before you start pontificating. I can assure you St. Thomas is not thinking/caring about who they'd face next. The attention is and will remain on Hobart.

ESPN Films is running the Alabama-Auburn rivalry documentary Roll Tide/War Eagle-this is the definition of entertainment.
The fans are "passionate" to say the least.
105,
It's amusing and even charming when observed from afar, but try living amongst them. :o  All fan bases can be obnoxious to one degree or another, but Alabama and Auburn have a greater percentage of fans that would be classified as "fringe lunatics" than any other schools.

What part of 'Bama you in?
Do you tune into to the Paul Finebaum radio show?

I'll hang up & listen.
I live a few minutes from the best beaches you've never heard of in the western Florida panhandle, aka Lower Alabama.  Because of the location, you run into fans from all over the southeast but we have a very high concentration of Alabama "sidewalk alumni."  The local sports talk radio station used to carry the Finebaum show while their regular afternoon show guy was doing some time in the clink for fraud. :o I actually heard the notorious Harvey Updyke call live.  The whole experience of listening to that show is like a watching a car accident in slow motion.  You're horrified, and yet you still find yourself gawking.
The artist formerly known as Carl Spackler... it's nice to be back!

Adversity doesn't build character; it reveals it.

Yea, that Harvey Updyke he's a real joker. That boy has "too much 'Bama in him".
He named his first two children 1.) Bear Bryant Updyke and 2.) Crimson Tide Updyke - I thinks being a "boy named Sue" would be easier   ???
As of now they're on DOUBLE SECRET Probation!

The Flora-bama still alive and kicking down there? I used to go to a conference every year in Perdido Beach and have many a fond memories of this fine establishment. Good times!

No, no Double O.  It's cool, Hobart's a pushover, will be easier to beat than SJF last year.  Just make sure to let the guys at UST know they can take a breath and look at the Linfield matchup.   ;)

Looking forward to Saturday's game.  Already had a UST fan post that half your starters (practically speaking) are injured and will be out this week.  We have a couple of injuries including a questionable starting QB, but I expect this game to be like 10-7/13-10 or something barring some weird things going on.  The only issue with those scores is that we have is that we haven't had a good kicking game in years (last year we had to go for it on 4th and goal inside the 5 yard line three or four times against Wesley in a 7pt loss wehre we got nothing out of those drives).

That's about 90 minutes away from me, but it appears to still be there.  I think I went there nearly 10 years ago when going thru water survival training at the Naval Air Station and our hotel was not far away.

If anybody on the board takes a vacation in this area, let me know and I can pass you the local knowledge on where to stay/eat etc.  If you've never visited the area, you're missing out.  Just watch out for the Saban Zombies.  ::)

Hey man, UST lost a fumble in that OT as well, they were just better at overcoming adversity and keeping their composure.  ;D

I see a bus trip from Oshkosh to St. Paul a more likely scenario.

BAH-ZING!

I kid, I kid. IF UST beats Hobart, whether they play at the Catdome or at home, it's going to be a tough game.

UST listen to Pumpkinattack, you should look way beyond Hobart. They are hurt,  never played this far in the playoffs and barely have enough male students to field a team, compared to your rich talent pool. You might as well take this week off from practice, it is overrated anyway. The UST program is well respected, but why would you need a coach who played football in NY to coach you?? Anyway, looking forward to an old fashioned , hard hitting game between 2 solid teams, where holding on to the ball and beating the man in front of you will determine the winner.

At the end of the day, I don't really care what others think about a region or team in general...

But, I would like to make a couple of points for the many that believe this game will be a cakewalk in the theory that all East teams suck all the time.  I actually was very defensive at the end of last year and the first 3-4 weeks this year about Hobart's preceived relative positioning - largely vis-a-vis St John Fisher.  Most people treat SJF as the best team in the East and many apologists made lots of excuses for why they lost (with their starting QB @ home) vs. Hobart 56-20 (actually 1pt more than UST won by on their home field).  The reality is that SJF was lucky to get into the field last year at 8-2 with two blowout losses (also lost by 20 to Salisbury) and then got a very nice path to the quarters (JHU - the Centennial IMO is not as strong as Hobart's very average league, then a clearly overrated DelVal - another team that had gotten some benefit of being pretty good the prior few years).  Hobart had a bizarro loss by one pt at home to RPI (w a 2x League OPOY some claim has had NFL interest which I'm personally skeptical of) with zero kicking game and a weird 8 game schedule (bc Widener dropped us over the summer), but otherwise beat everyone by 17+ including the 5td win over SJF and yet ends up going to top 4 Wesley in the first round and comes up just short losing by 7 with multiple starters out.  Somehow SJF ends up 8th in the D3 poll and Hobart is unranked.  Considering we lost to a final four team by 7 at their place and won head to head over SJF by a lot, I'd argue that Hobart was actually a better team last year than SJF.  I think Hobart is better this year, not graduating all that much.

Just some food for thought and perspective from admittedly a big Hobart fan about the East and perception.  The team you blew out got blown out twice that season earlier.

Apparently, Kurt Ramler has been on a sabbatical for the last year.

"I really had a unique opportunity to take a true sabbatical and I was able to shadow a number of programs," Ramler said. "I was able to take a look at how things are being done in different places."

As a matter of pure curiosity, I wonder which schools he elected to follow.

"I haven't really had any time to spend on it yet," said Grant, who also had his son Ryan's football banquet at the University of Minnesota to attend Sunday afternoon, and his own team's year-end banquet Sunday night.

"But when I get some free time this week, I'll get online and start the application process. I'll fill it out and start things moving forward. Then we'll see what happens. Maybe they won't even invite me up for an interview. You never know how these things will turn out."   ::)
