Congrats to UST on the biggest win to date in program history. Solid play all around-- offense, defense and special teams all did what needed to be done to jump to the early lead and keep UWO from staging a rally.

Also congrats to Glenn Caruso on becoming the school's all-time winningest football coach. Here's hoping for many many more wins @UST for Glenn!

Friday will mark the 8th time a UST men's team has played in the national championship gamew in the past 15 years- baseball four times (2 titles), hockey twice, basketball once (with a title) and now football.  Add to it two softball national titles, and the recent volleyball title-- all of which have come on Steve Fritz's tenure as AD.

Who has more?

We'll start with 8 National Titles and 6 additional appearances in the title game. ;). All of which under Larry Kehres tenure as the AD ...oops and the coach.

And lest we forget......In the past fifteen years the Tommies still SUCK! ;D

Thanks. Very helpful.  Did you use gogle? Couldn't find it on bing.
The last shall be first and the shall be.......

D O.C.

Tommie? Can you hear me?

Are you going to Salem in that mother's robe by any chance?
Do have a brownie for me at the Station.

That's where we were left, at the station

Okay- my brother and I will be on the UST charter flight (Salem bound!)....    ;D Any Johnnies, Warhawks, or Purple Raiders that can recommend some good local establishments to enjoy a few beverages?

Also, is there anything that's a must see we should add to our list of to do's for this trip?

In Salem, I would recommend Mac & Bob's. If you're staying in Roanoke, I would recommend Awful Arthur's and Corned Beef & Company, each of which is within stumbling distance from the Hotel Roanoke, where the teams are staying. The hotel also has a bar with limited options but convenient, and the hotel restaurant is a good place for breakfast.

Good cajun place near the hotel too, although I don't remember the name at the moment.

Oz,
Can't even be Minnesota Nice to a fellow person from the GR? Granted, I kinda went to the 'other' high school that was green and white, and then went to a certain 'other' university, so I can see how there's no Minnesota Nice coming this way.

Greenway...  The school has a beautiful outlook over the lake.  Shame about the inbreeding.

Hey now, I'm not from Calumet or Taconite. My parent's families came from different parts of the state so no cousins marrying cousins.

Why would you guys even bother to engage with PurpleReign? Come on, you should know better.
Uh, yeah didn't know about this uhhh.....fan until I read a little more.  I think there are a few unstable folks like PR and Geiger that can be counted on to provide nothing but pure entertainment.  No need to post any more replies in that direction.

Is the OAC still rated higher than the MIAC? I thought that changed. If not, it should.

By the way, MIAC Non-conference  record (including Playoff games) 21 - 3.

But are your parents first cousins?  ;)

My experience for the two trips we took is that unless you have a car, you're gonna pretty much stay at the hotel restaurant/bar.  The 2003 trip we drank the bar dry of beer before 10pm and had to go to the local liquor store and bring in our own cases.  The school called and told the hotel be ready because our people drink lots of beer and they either didn't heed their warning or thought that having an extra case would do the trick.  Go figure.....

Reusse reporting this morning that Chad Rogosheske will be returning to Snelling and Hewitt as Head Coach, to be announced as early as this morning.

Rogo is a 1998 Hamline grad, a former OC and DC of the Pipers, and has experience coaching at Wartburg, Bucknell and Ohio State.

Good hire for the Pipers-- Rogo is an energetic and talented coach who should breathe some life and tradition back into the Piper program.  Note to SJU-- it's another head coach in the conference under the age of 50...

Depends on the hotel. If you're at the hotels out by the airport, then yes -- you could hike to the restaurants over by the mall, though. I'd guess it's a mile and a half, maybe 2 depending on which of those airport hotels you're at.

The teams generally don't stay at those hotels anymore.

Yeah my cousin's hubby mentioned this to me last week. He played with Chad and says he is a great hire (compared to his first impression of previous coach, which was that it was going to be a disaster. And it was).

Mine too. How can it be so apparent that a hire is going to be a disaster and yet a school still makes the hire?
