Only knowing what I read, both here and elsewhere, about Glenn Caruso, I am beginning to wonder if there is another comparison we can make. Being a hockey guy, he might be somewhat like Mike Keenan. Wherever Keenan has gone, he has brought quick successful results. But his style seems to wear on people, and then, He wears out his welcome and is gone. Again, no one can argue with Keenan's win/loss success, but he is such an A*&hole, that after a short time, his players just can't put up with his "intensity." Now this might not hold true in the college ranks, where players only have 4 years that they have to put up with a coach.

Again, before I get jumped on - I have read where the players don't seem to have a problem with his personality. I'll just add one word to that last sentence - "yet."

SUMMIT!!!!!

Futile attempts to discredit him from the peanut gallery on this or any other board will not change that. His record speaks for itself, plain and simple!
I never said anything about his ability to coach.  He obviously knows what he's doing.  I just don't care for some of his behaviors.

Eh, at least one of the Tommies is a bit sensitive about all this coach talk, and it not being all about U$T.  I bet it's even a slap in the face that Caruso isn't being considered for the SJU job!   ;D

So, is Frank staking out this this committee meeting this morning?  I'm anxiously awaiting the smoke coming out of that room.  Dusty didn't stay on campus to give us the scoop?
"Habemus Coachum"
Maybe its more a slap in SJU's face tbat Caruso had zero interest in their job opening, but then again I highly doubt Bo had any interest in the OSU job when Woody left.  Isnt it also a slap in Steve Johnson's face that SJu isnt considering him for the job? What about Terry Horan- another slap?  While the SJU gig is a plum job to many, it is not THE ultimate coaching job for all. Judging by the lack of a non-connected finalist, I'd say the "non-family" interest may not have been all that great.

My sarcasm indicator light must not have been working regarding my post: It wasn't intended to actually imply that Caruso, Johnson or anybody else would even be interested; rather, it was intended to poke fun at another U$T poster who was trying to defend Caruso's results-- when that wasn't even at issue.  My bad if it came across any other way.

For the record, I think it is very clear that SJU fans and program are actively engaged in dealing with Caruso-- and the SJU search process proves that.  While Caruso's methods are open to criticism (as have been Gagliardi's, as have been Steve Johnson's, for example), his results at U$T are fact-- considering only one other MIAC team has ever been to the Stagg Bowl (and only two have ever won National Titles in football), getting there alone is an accomplishment and deserving of a respect-- which he has received, from Johnnies and Cobbers and Royals and Oles alike.  But it still doesn't mean we have to like him, personally or professionally!

Enough about U$T.  Anyone know if the committee is still meeting?

Apparently, my sarcasm indicator light on my reply wasnt working either...maybe it was because of the bitter taste in my mouth still from my resume not making the final cut for the job. And this on a day I accidently wore a predominantly red shirt to the office and had one of my staff tell me "you look good in red- you should wear it more often"... I think I was insulted very sublty

You DO look good in red.  I tell all of our football players that nobody looks good in purple.  Unless you play on Sundays.

And there is always room on our bandwagon!

Grant has got a beard and dad named after a weak sauce beer.  He can't win.

I didn't know there was a beer named "Harold". Is that an Aussie beer? ;D

I was racking my brain trying trying to remember if I had drank Harold. I tell myself that I'm not dim-witted but then I find myself doing things like that.

Caruso's success is most likely due to his affinity for voodoo and human sacrifice.

Speaking of the Vikings...how amazing is Adrian Peterson. Un-freaking-believable what he's done this season. And the first 4-5 games he was used pretty sparingly and given a fairly light work load because of unnecessary concern over his knee. What could his rushing yards be right now if he'd been given free reign in the opening weeks? Makes you wonder.

Who thinks he'll break the record? He basically needs to average just shy of 150 yds the final two games against Houston & Green Bay.

I think he gets it. And I'll even go out on a limb and predict he gets close to 250 against Green Bay in the season finale. The icing would be if they won both games and made the playoffs. That happens and he's a shoe in for MVP and Comeback POY.

Dude's a machine.

Ironically, I remember being at the draft party at Winter Park the day the Vikes got him. Most probably don't remember, but fans wanted the team to draft Brady Quinn. Quinn chants were starting and stopping all morning. And AP kept sliding. When the Vikings took Adrian, the place erupted with boos. Seems insane now, but people were pissed they passed on Quinn. I told my buddy they were nuts. His being 'injury prone' was just a fluke deal and that he was a horse. Now living in KC, I can tell you, from firsthand experience, how right the Vikings were on that selection!  :o

Dear Oz,

Since the world is supposed to end tomorrow, and you'll be in tomorrow while we are still in today, maybe you can give us a heads up on what's happening so we can have a few Hamm's before tomorrow gets here.

Thanks, and good luck.

I forgot to bring my EA's Christmas present into work with me this morning.  The end of the world takes the form of asking Mrs Oz to swing by the city and drop off the gift.  I've seen this wrath before and lived through it so I think we'll be good.  Battered, but alive.

Oz has been in Oz way too long. These dates look like they were drawn up by my South African wife.

Can I take 03/01/13? I have a feeling there is going to be some contract negotiations.

If that is the truth, I would assume that the internal candidate is not their hire.  You don't have someone on staff for 17 years then wait another week to do a background check on him.

I reckon it's not strictly true.  It's a task that could mean anything, giving the two that aren't selected a half-way decent Christmas while the selected person has additional discussions over whatever.
