How many of the assistant coaches are full time and not coaching any other sports?

Fasching, Ramler, and Jimmy G are full-time football.  Dumonceaux is nearly full-time, coaching the throwers on the T&F team in the spring.

Thanks Duff. How many full time assistants were there under Gags?
I believe just 1- Jimmy.
Gary was recruiting coordinator but also had other responsibilities at the university.
This will (at least) double the efforts and perhaps more if they take into consideration those who coach other sports will be doing (some) football recruiting as well.
As of now they're on DOUBLE SECRET Probation!

Not taking anything away from Fasching's coaching ability or leadership skills, but I am of the opinion that providing these resources will prove most influential in the resurrection of the SJU program.

I would be curious as to how many full time football staffers UW-Whitewater and Mt. Union have.

I do believe you are correct.

A recent SC Times article hinted that Novak may leave his wrestling position in the not-too-distant future.  I'm wondering if Haugen is preparing to leave football behind with Brandon taking over as defensive coordinator when Jerry steps down.

That is the angle I took from reading said SCTimes article.
There appears to be a youth movement at SJU. Gary's age is just a number as he is in better shape than a  lot of guys in their late 20's -early 30's  :o

Wrestling is totally different sport.  Football an older man can still coach while IMO wrestling is more a hands on coaching and teaching.  A man can be in shape an not get winded but a man loses strength as he gets older and that makes the difference in wrestling.  Dan Gable is perfect for this.  His hips knees and strength gave out so he got out of coaching.

Might Gags take over the wrestling team if Novak goes football fulltime?

Maybe. 42-25-1 as hockey coach. Led Carroll to conference titles in hoops and baseball. He'd figure it out on the mat.

The much more interesting question is what will Caruso say when he runs into Ramler and/or Dumonceaux in all those metro area high schools he has basically owned for the past several years.  I would love to be there for those awkward meetings.

Hmm...don't forget that Caruso has 5 other coaches who have recruiting responsibilities (Kuchinski, Walch, Anderson, Lepsche, and Hollway) and 12 coaches overall on his staff.  Unless some of the other guys on SJU's staff drop their other coaching responsibilities, I still believe they will be out-recruited.  Lest we forget, Dumonceaux is a track coach as well.  I'm not sure how much time he'll devote to recruiting considering the fact that the indoor track season just started this past week.

Furthermore, Caruso and his staff appear to have a better overall strategy in place to not only recruit, but also more importantly in my opinion, assess and develop talent that will flourish at the college level.

Charlie Welsh is the video coordinator?  Surely that responsibility must be greater than just film prep and review. Surely that must involve streaming to the masses.

Nope.  Means he breaks down film.

Come on.  Just pretend I'm your wife and tell me what I want to hear.

I had to log in just to give you some karma for that!! It is like a window into your marriage! Let's hope Mrs. Oz isn't checking your browser history...8-)

Growing up in the St. Joe area myself, I'd say UST is the better choice.  ;)

Ironic you'd use that phrase in reference to SJU because that has often been said in reference to the Tommie uprising. We'll let you go with it, but will say, show us...don't tell us!

On what basis can you draw that conclusion?  Fasching has only had the job for two weeks and his staff was announced just two days ago.  I can certainly see that you hope that's true.  But that's all it is.  A hope.
