The Johnnie football schedule is out according to Frank Rajkowski.  We open at River Falls.  Nice.  No Crown or Northwestern.

EDIT:  A post at gojohnnies.com.  We've got River Falls and Eau Claire.  The aggressive opening is good to see.  The Tommies are week three and closing the season against Bethel.  Whew.

New Saint John's University head football coach Gary Fasching and the Johnnies will open the 2013 season with a 7 p.m. game Friday, Sept. 6, at Wisconsin-River Falls.

SJU returns home to host Wisconsin-Eau Claire on Saturday, Sept. 14, and begins the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) schedule at St. Thomas Sept. 21.

Four more opponents visit Collegeville, including Concordia-Moorhead for Homecoming Sept. 28 and Augsburg for Family Weekend Oct. 12. The Homecoming game is the first for SJU against the Cobbers since Oct. 13, 1984 (W, 13-9).

The Johnnies end the 2013 regular season with back-to-back home games against Hamline (Nov. 9) and Bethel (Nov. 16).

The season opener at River Falls is the first Friday-night game, at an on-campus stadium, since Oct. 1, 1965, at St. Thomas. An estimated crowd of 6,100 spectators witnessed the Johnnies earn a 10-0 shutout of the Tommies at O'Shaughnessy Stadium en route to a perfect 11-0 record and the program's second national championship.

The schedule is posted here.

Just a reminder that if you are attending the game in St. Paul this year it starts at 1:10pm to accommodate the WCCO radio broadcast. This is a change from last year in Collegeville where SJ1 was the only school in the MIAC that was unable to accommodate CCO's request.......any idea why?

So the entire league should kowtow to U$T because they've got a deal w/ the old neighbor?  Is there really any reason for traffic on the 8's on a Saturday?  SJU has a radio broadcast and they have no trouble going on the air at 1 pm.  Not sure U$T will get much sympathy from anyone on this one.

Should future D3 athletes participate in National Signing Day ceremony?  I know of one school where they are included.  I think it's kind silly...especially since D3 athletes don't actually sign letters of intent.
What do others think?

Because we have a radio broadcast that is listened to by more people.  They expect to tune in and have a game start at 1pm.  The broadcast partner puts on a two hour pre-game show, not 10 minutes.  Why should they have to change to accomodate one school in the MIAC when all the others have no problem with the 1pm start?

Who says this?

I want something.

It is self-evidently important that you should give it to me.

I can see no reason why you should not respond to my wants in total and without delay or discussion.

My thirteen year old daughter, that's who.  Oh, and UST.

Honestly I had no idea the Tommies had become Ted Turner's Braves teams from the 1980s and started all their games 10 minutes late. What's the extra 10 minutes for, so the fighter jets have more time to get down from Fargo for the fly-overs? But, just as the Superstation TBS couldn't make the Braves opponents start games at 7:05 back then when they were on the road, so the Tommies and the Old Neighbor can't dictate times for road games.

Makes sense.  So why does WCCO broadcast UST games when more people tune in to SJ1 games every Saturday?  Why doesn't CCO go for the SJ1 games - and the higher ad revenue from more viewers.  Why doesn't SJ1 sell the rights to CCO for more revenue to fund the program? To your point, they could hire the SJU staff and their pregame - probably gets better ratings than CCO's home garden show.  Someone should capitalize on this opvious gold mine.

To answer your questions:

1. Because UST is the only thing that the craptastic CCO can get any more.

2. Because SJU wouldnt accept the offer for lower quality broadcast.

3. Because it wouldn't raise more money. I wonder how much UST pays CCO for the broadcast?

4. SJU doesn't produce the two-hour pre-game show, WBHR does.  To comment on your point: your belief that your ignorance supports your argument is a really depressing statement on the quality of critical thinking taught at the BC of the Midwest.

5. Someone is capitalizing on this gold mine, you bore.

Sju has an eight year deal with the bear so the point is moot. It does sometimes seem Tommies think CCO voluntarily gave up the gophers because they had a gold mine in St.  Paul.  When they lost Goldy the choices were crown football, the Tommies or reruns of classic Steve Cannon shows. But now I must leave our petty bickering.  My flight for Cape Town leaves in an hour and I will soon be worrying about heat exhaustion instead of Tommie dominance.

Thanks!  Any idea on the terms of that deal?  Does SJ1 pay for the broadcast like UST?

Your question flipped my question, so that's a wash.  And the other reasoning is fair enough.  In the end, the beef is between the stations, not the schools.  CCO remarked on the 1pm start last year and I'm sure the Bear will do the same about the 1:10 start this year.  I guess the home school will always win the debate.
