Ret ... DO NOT watch that first Leafs goal ... brutal.

I, on the other hand, in a text, described it as "HORRIFIC".  Either way, the Caps are not playing up to the level I expect.

Of course, I had to see it for myself. I think Ret said it perfectly.

It's almost like the defender was waiting for an icing whistle or something.

Any buddy else see think the headline of this story is misleading?  Should future D3 participate in "signing" ceremonies?

I'm sitting on the train listening to a professional fighter discuss his last fight with someone on the phone. One for the list of situations I never envisioned.

As London Fletcher Tweeted yesterday- "D3 doesn't have a National Signing Day,you just show up for the first day of practice"

Yeah, the common line is that new coach/short season is a recipe for disaster.  They had some spurts, but that was about it. Still a pretty good vibe during the game, but a lot of grumbling as the fan base left the rink.

I really doubt Mr. Fletcher just showed up for the first day of fall camp.  I would bet Mr. Fasching is working very hard to give away some more trophies.

Anyone on the board going to make it to the Bock Fest this coming Saturday at the August Schell Brewery in New Ulm? Always a great event. And then the following weekend the EelPout Festival will be happening in Walker on Leech Lake. The Bikini Ice Fishing Team will be attending! ;)

No, but as someone who's gone 5 or 6 times, I agree that it is great fun!

It's not fun to watch, but E. J. Hradek has expressed the view that I pretty much hold. Three coaches over a one year period, all with different philosophies is quite destabilizing. I still think they have a good group, but with the short preseason, they may not be able to turn it around this year. The worst thing they could do is make more changes before seeing if it will work itself out. I also think that a very under rated Brooks Laich being out with an injury hurts mnore than one might realize. He is a very good all around player who also provides stability and leadership.

What the pictures don't show is the group of guys going to Dakota County Technical College to play intramural ultimate frisbee standing in the corner seething with jealousy.
Sing us a song, you're the piano man
Sing us a song tonight
Well, we're all in the mood for a melody
And you've got us feelin' alright.

What exactly is an "eelpout"? And why does it have a "festival"?  ;)

DuffMan

An eelpout is a fish--a nasty, slimy creature with a cult following.  Technically, they're known as burbot, but eelpout is a regional term.  It's a freshwater cousin to the cod.  As for the festival, in MN, we like excuses to brave the cold and drink a lot of beer.
