I was once mistaken for Gov Branstad in an elevator in Des Moines back in the early 80's when he was previously in office.

Thanks for sharing Vegas TC. Most impressive aspect of the video to me is the obvious depth. They had so many different people playing big roles and contributing to the success of the season and so many were underclassmen! Can't help but feel confident about their accomplishing the goal of achieving sustained success. There should be many more highlights on the horizon for the Toms.

Looking forward to toasting GC tomorrow while he's in Chicago.

Are you going to start a petition as well?   ;)

StarTrib also reports that in 2020 the IOC will drop wraslin' from the Olympics....sorry Duff.

Yeah.  I heard that.  Complete crap if you ask me.  It'll be interesting to see how this plays out.  Wrestlers are tenacious, and I don't see this ending without a big fight.

It's a crying shame. Wrestling is everything an Olympic sport should be.

On a side note, I wonder if this causes an increase in the number of top flight grapplers who turn over to MMA. With Olympic glory soon off the table, it would seem to be an option. We've obviously already seen some guys do this. But from my perspective, it's tended to be guys who were very good but not elite, Olympic caliber wrestlers. Maybe that changes now. Just trying to find a silver lining I guess  :-\

Nice effort, sfury. Not meant as a shot at The John bravado (God forbid), but highly doubt there will be any talk of "John Gagliardi's retirement". GC never really has much to say about Gags and can be more often found talking about Coach Johnson and his Bethel teams. However, I will be interested to hear his opinion on Fasching, his staff and their recruiting prowess though.  ;)

I think GC's opinion will be "let them take care of their business and we will continue to take care of ours. Any disputes can easily be resolved on the playing field, not the message boards."

Really?  Someone gave me negative karma for posting a highlight video?    :'(

Hopefully he'll pick up a few nice recruits while he's down there.  Charlie Dowdle was a gem.

Curious about the number of freshman in camp at UST I found the following rosters:

2012 List of recruits n=71
http://www.tommiemedia.com/sports/football-announces-2012-recruiting-class/

2012 List of freshman in camp n=55 (as far as I can count)
http://www.tommiesports.com/ftbl/news/CampWordRoster_817.html

2012 Camp Size n=129

From prior notes I see that the camp size has been about 125/130 each of the last 3 years.

2011 Camp Size: n=125 of 150 on fall roster.
http://www.tommiesports.com/ftbl/news/Blog_8-16.html
150 are expected to compete this fall, including 125 who arrived Sunday for fall preseason camp.

2010 Camp Size: n=126
http://www.tommiesports.com/ftbl/news/archives/2010/QuickPree_8-14.html

So who is not getting invited to camp?  Last year included names like:
Matt Dysthe, Prior Lake HS
Antonio Erskin, Cretin-Derham Hall
Patrick Flaherty, Grand Rapids HS - played in MN all-star game

Make of it what you will.  Is it ideal or is it fair, probably not.  Probably a function of cost and effectively coaching more than 130 kids.  Looks like it has been going on in some form or shape for the last 3 years.  Therefore I am not sure prior claims about kids receiving letters are all that damaging.  Seems to be more of a case of misinformed parents.
The last shall be first and the shall be.......
