SJU has dubbed them as "controlled scrimmages".

QuoteThe Saint John's University football team will travel to Regina, Saskatchewan, in May to participate in two controlled scrimmages on Saturday, May 18, head football coach Gary Fasching announced Monday, Feb. 25.

Also, they have announced an open-to-the-public "Spring Game" on May 10th, which sounds, to me, like a scrimmage.

A tradition unrivaled...

So, two controlled scrimmages against the Canucks.  That's like suited practices 11 & 12 only with people that want to make you look bad.

Yup.  I've got very high hopes for this year.  I'm in a good place at the moment: High hopes, moderate expectations.  I hope the Johnnies can take the conference but expect them to get third.

Oz - before you go on the defensive and on the record with your pick, take a look at the SJ1 logo.

It serves as a reminder that the Johnnies should strive to be the best on the playing field.  You are showing the world what SJU can do in Aus.  You're not settling to be the 3rd best bloke.  Why not expect the same from your boys back home?
The last shall be first and the shall be.......

Yawn...you're boring me. Maybe next time try for some actually clever anti-Johnnie rhetoric.

On to team nicknames, while I know it is hockey, I always liked "The Broad Street Bullies"...and I don't even like the Flyers!

Oz, I feel your pain on the Fab Five flashback!

Hurt me bennie. Hockey has the Production Line, The French Connection, The Great One, Mr Hockey, Sid the Kid. It's loaded with nicknames.

Yawn, good one.  I've not heard that since high school, actually.

By clever did you mean sophmoric?

It doesn't look like your Caps did too much at the trade deadline. I don't know quite what to think of the Jacket's moves. I am going to have to watch tomorrow's game to see what the chemistry looks like. I usually don't mind the Sharks, but now that they picked up Raffe Torres, I am going to have to rethink that!

My son, who watches draft choices and prospects pretty closely, is upset that they gave up Forsberg. Erat could help short term, but I think this one has to be evaluated over the next few years.

As far as the Jackets, it's almost like a delayed Nash for Gaborik trade. I think they are better off now than they were a week ago. Whether it's enough to get them to the playoffs.....

Wild could be the sleeper this year. They have really changed their identity this year. It may take another full season to come to fruition, but they are much more explosive and fun to watch than in the past.

But Backstrom needs some relief before the playoff grind ...
