Faunch, I hope to make it, but as you said, it is the walleye opener.  It'll make travel from the MSP metro area hell, not to mention I94 is single-lane from Clearwater to St. Cloud.  I'm keeping it on my tentative agenda, though.

Maybe Hwy 55 through Kimball then north to Cold Spring to Collegeville?

A pretty good Masters. With all the talk of the Aussies, they brought up Bruce Crampton a few times and it reminded me of one of my favorite golf tales.

Apparently Crampton was a first-class jerk. Nonetheless when a woman drew a spot with him for a pro-am, she was excited and wanted to get to know the pro -- despite his rep for a-holery.

"My friends say you won't say five words to me all day," she gushed.

Crampton: "Sorry lady, you lose."

Got done with playing 36 just in time to see Scott's putt go in on 18. Great shot by Cabrera followed, Really nice ending.

On a sadder note, I just heard that Lumpy Rutherford died.

Faunch, unfortunately, I won't be able to make it up for the game on May 10th and host the tailgate party. I will be flying back from Reno, Nevada that evening. :-[

Trending on Yahoo today:

"John Galardi dies"

Can they even spell it right .... oh, wait, never mind.  (Any sighs of relief in Minnesota?)

What the hell was that?  That was a Drop-kick.  Drop-kick? How much is that worth?  Three points.  THREE POINTS?!

Are the Johnnies able to get their practices in with this weather going on?

I was on campus Saturday afternoon and the football field was covered with snow.
My guess is that they have moved the practices into the McNeely Spectrum (that's the fieldhouse adjacent to the football field for those unfamiliar with the Saint John's campus.)
Sing us a song, you're the piano man
Sing us a song tonight
Well, we're all in the mood for a melody
And you've got us feelin' alright.

As someone who grew up in that neck of the woods,  I will tell you that it's pretty hard to get from Kimball to Cold Spring unless you know the country dirt roads and back roads around Marty/Pearl Lake. There is no direct road connecting Kimball & Cold Spring.

It would make more sense to take 55 to Watkins, turn up Main Street (County Rd 2) which is a straight shot through Cold Spring and up to St Joe (and the St Joe exit off 94). Or you can take 55 to Kimball and go north on MN-!5 to 94 just south of St. Cloud.

if you go through Watkins, a pit stop at Bud's on Main or the Red Goat (also on Main) should allow you to stock up on Hamms for the game & weekend.

Growing up in small town Northern Minnesota had a lot of "downsides". Boston has more. Good golly.

Unfortunately with this cold weather, you may not have to worry about the Walleye opener.
