Vegas-can you post a link to Goodwin and the Tribune's all state team. I can only find Rushin from Loyola on the defensive all state team.
Thanks

Here you go: http://graphics.chicagotribune.com/2012-hs-football-cards/

I was hoping we'd also have Mr. Goodwin's teammates, Luke Ford (a ridiculous athlete) and Peter Pujals (nice QB) joining Darby and another LA alum, Charlie Dowdle in Tommie purple. I know they gave it strong consideration, but both ultimately chose Holy Cross. HC landed a whale in Ford, kid is a hell of a player. It seems a nice relationship has formed between LA and UST.

We also picked up Brendan Murphy from Loyola Academy as well. He was their starting center. Do you know anything about him?

I don't know anything about him - but here is his highlight reel!

•   C- 6'2 – 260 - Brendan Murphy – Loyola Academy

A thousand bucks to anyone who can prove they watched every second of a 10-minute highlight package of a high school center who's going to play for a D3 school.
Are his Mom and Dad eligible?  Can you occasionally let your eyes wander to follow the ball?

Vegas TomCat is on top of his game out there in Tommie Land. Great job with all the info. I really enjoyed looking at who they are bringing in.

The Cobbers break down was surprising.
13 OL and 6 QB's

Im assuming some of those QB's might move positions, but love seeing the amount of big boys coming in.

To highlight a few:

Jon Asprey – Offensive Line – HT 6'3 WT 240 - Brainerd High School, MN
Josh Berg – Offensive Line – HT 6'2 WT 275 - Fargo Shanley High School, ND
Ethan Feil – Offensive Line – HT 6'4 WT 240 - Divide County High School, Crosby, ND
Jesse Hogan – Offensive/Defensive Line – HT 6'4 WT 275 - Yokota HS, Yokota AFB, Japan
Alex Piepkorn – Offensive Line – HT 6'4 WT 250 - Fargo North High School, ND
Logan Tillma – Offensive Line – HT 6'5 WT 310 - La Qui Parle Valley, Madison, MN

Not sure if any of those guys would fit in in TommieLand, some small town boys... and of course Japan!

Be interesting to see what these kids are like 2 years down the road.

Thanks, Ear. I will probably do another writeup this weekend on some of the incoming WRs and DBs. I'm a former DB myself so I need to make sure they are represented.  :)

A great game was had on Friday night between West Coast and North Melbourne. Nic Natinui, a huge Fijian who plays for West Coast, took a spectacular mark in the middle of a big pack in the dying seconds to set up a dramatic chance at victory.

Hope the padded practices help the Johnnies this upcoming season. How well do teams in Division III that practiced with pads fair agains other teams the upcoming season that didn' t have practices with pads?

Is that a dig or just a poorly-constructed question?  I can't imagine the extra practices being detrimental.  ???

Just poorly poorly-constructed. Do you think the practices will help the Johnnies get back to playoff potential?

Like I said, I don't think it'll hurt, and it should be a great advantage having a new head coach and new offensive coordinator.  It'll help the team get to know the new philosophy and playbook better, and give the staff a better look and chance to evaluate players that may have been buried in the depth chart previously.  I've got a lot of faith in this staff, and I'm excited to see what they can do.

Came pretty damn close to winning that Powerball this weekend.  My ticket had all the numbers...just not in the right places.  I was one number from $1 million and two numbers from the whole kit and caboodle.  Closest I'll probably ever come to winning it.  Winning $108 isn't bad but it's long way from the big payday.  >:(
That new domed field at SJU sure would have looked good with my name on it.  ;D

Winning numbers were:
10   13   14   22   52       PB 11

The great AFL performance enhancing drugs controversy continues apace at Essendon. The CEO resigned this morning and the Chairman refused to answer questions on if this was the end. It's looking like a systemic program, potentially with players being deceived, may have been in place and almost every player being suspect. The club could face disillusion and the players all face multiple-year bans. Their season continues while the investigation is ongoing.

High drama.
