Don't know about you guys, but I want the Johnny's back on top of the Minn DIII conference.  The Tommies are just too ..........full of themselves!
The University of St. Thomas. Where humility goes to die......

Coming from an Auggie? If I remember right, Augsburg talked more crap on the field than any other team we faced each year when I played. Heck, have you looked at your QB Aryton Scott's twitter feed? He's already calling out the Tommies and telling MIAC players that Augsburg is going to win the conference next year. Is that the type of humility you're talking about?

Pat Coleman

Well, that's an improvement over the last Augsburg QB I saw talking smack on Twitter.

That is fair, I don't like players talking crap on the field either. Scott is confident but he has to lead his team against some very good competition so he needs to show swagger. Question for you: Have you seen Scott play? He does not talk crap on the field.

He's not too bad, a quick scan revealed he recently was pulled over and had his moped towed, the team enjoyed the lower drinking age on their trip to Winnipeg, and a simple "F St. Thomas".  Didn't find his conference predictions, but even if he did pick himself to win every game, at least he's not from Hamline.

Lot of humility up in Collegville.....Dohkay.  Sure UST is a little big in the britches (especially as of late), but I'd say you are a little delusional of you don't recognize the same coming out of Collegeville.  Just wait for the 2013 predictions to start rolling in......they are sure to be as meek as they were after Fasching was hired.

Oh for sure, there is no lack of arrogance in Collegeville. It's just more tolerable coming from a proven program.

Hmmm, so how many regular season wins in a row before UST can be considered "proven?" Say 35 or so?

Yes, that is probably enough wins for some folks. They have "proved" that they are a very good regular season team.

I'd still like to see a National Championship, but they haven't been too shabby in the playoffs either.

On another note, with UST's apparent dominance in all things athletic, I wonder how long it will be before SJU alums jump ship and start wearing purple.  The situation would be similar to that which one finds with Holy Cross/Notre Dame.  Holy Cross alums love their alma mater, but many can't help but cheer for Notre Dame.

You'll already see most of them sporting the purple pride, but they try and disguise it as Queens wear! However, we all know, "deep down, in places you don't talk about at parties" they all aspire to achieve Tommie greatness. It's continually evidenced in their red headed, step child syndrome spewing of all things Tommie. Although, being honest it has just been the icing on the proverbial cake in regards to the recent one sided dominance of all things red! Please keep it up, fellas (and lady-Bennie).

That being said, I was at a going away party for Fr. Dease last week in Chicago and he confirmed an earlier report that he performed the commencement address at the most recent John graduation. What an incredibly honorable gesture-apparently someone up there has some class. Could there be a Tommie calling the shots?

Been laying low, just could not resist a little pot stirring.

I may wear Linfield purple.
I may wear Mount Union purple.
There is even a small chance that I may wear Whitewater purple.
I will never wear Tommie purple.

Duff, all you need to do is ask and I can make the Linfield purple and red happen in short order.

Lindy's has:

UST: 2
Bethel: 12

The story features SJ1 and Fasching's outlook. Had to laugh when the articles says that Fasching's sees Concordia and Augsburg as "stalwarts."   That's Caruso's word of choice, drops it at least three times an interview.  Imitation is the highest form of flattery I suppose.

I know for a fact that Caruso's most used word every single day is "the".  I use "the" a lot too.  I've got one up on ROR.  Tomorrow I'm having Caruso's baby.

The big day has arrived and the little bugger won't shut up.

It's funny how habitual losing breeds negativity.  On the other hand, it must be difficult to see a nearby Catholic school rising to national prominence in athletics and academics, and not be part of the group.  Come on down, we're a welcoming bunch...

Would the David and Goliath story have been as compelling if Goliath vanquished David? Would the movie Hoosiers have been made if the underdog had lost? What if Sparticus had a Piper Cub?

If you Reference starved Tommies still don't get it - when you have all the advantages, you are expected to win, and consequently, it's not a story.

It depends on how much Goliath wins by.  It's still a story if Goliath is challenged.  Moral victories often lead to future actual victories.

I'd say a shocking number of Americans have given up or forgotten about David vs. Goliath stories.  They want to create rules that attempt to handicap some teams and subsidize others.  They create additional divisions if they can't handicap one team enough.  7 classes in high school football, college teams that refuse to schedule anyone outside of their division, salary caps and revenue sharing in the pros.

I wish SJU would just ask Linfield to prom already. This flirting is getting ridiculous.
