It is interesting to see how the schools schedule their non-conference games and their bye week into their respective seasons. Both Bethel and Gustavus have the first week off. And the Johnnies start the season off on a Friday night game. Might have to go up and see that one.

Better go over, not up.  Game is at River Falls.

Very funny AO. +k for that.

I assume the heathens at SJU are omitted as we are too far gone.

not true.  Why else would Northwestern have wanted to play the Johnnies 5 times in the last 10 years? The eagles did a great job of building confidence in Collegeville.   8-)

Tough Schedule to start the season!

I just took a look at the schedules for the MIAC and couldn't help but notice that in the first 3 weeks of the season that the Johnnies and the Tommies each play UW River Falls, UW Eau Claire and then each other. If either of the WIAC teams scores a win in those first 4 games, it well could be that the MIAC team with that loss would not make the playoffs at the end of the season.

Other non-conference games that MIAC teams play this year:

Augsburg has Concordia Wisconsin who Bethel beat in the playoffs last season. They have a new coach, so who knows how that will go. Then in Nov. they play Macalester.

Bethel has Wartburg and Buena Vista - and should win them both.

Carleton starts out with Grinnell and has Macalester in October.

The Cobbers start out with NAIA Jamestown, ND and then play Buena Vista a week before Bethel does.

Gustavus starts out with Simpson and then in October plays NAIA Valley City State, whom they lost to last year.

Hamline starts out with Minnesota Morris and ends the season with Macalester.

Lastly, St. Olaf starts out the season with "Northwestern University, St. Paul" (as they are changing their name effective July 1) and then play Luther the very next week. They should win both of those games.

It is interesting to see how the schools schedule their non-conference games and their bye week into their respective seasons. Both Bethel and Gustavus have the first week off. And the Johnnies start the season off on a Friday night game. Might have to go up and see that one.

Does anyone know why the Cobbs and Gusties schedule NAIA teams as NC opponnets? I'm sure there has to be a D3 team out there looking for a game in the UMAC, IIAC or WIAC

Bethel played Concordia Chicago. Although we did play Concordia Wisconsin in the playoffs and regular season (twice) a few years back. Easy mistake, as there are a grand total of 48 Concordia ___________ out there.

And while I hope we win them both, we've laid an egg against BV before (although the season played out nicely) and I never count Wartburg as an automatic W. They're a quality IIAC team that is in yearly contention for a playoff spot and not an easy playoff out when they get in.

Yep, you're right Hazzben - didn't look closely enough at the differences between the two Concordias.

And thanx to Retired Old Rat in letting me know the MIAC opener is at River Falls. It's actually a lot closer for me to go there to see the game as I live in the SE Metro area.

I love the color, duff, and the bold post-modern deconstructionism. But to be honest it looks like the wind blew a tree onto it to me. I'm sorry, but I'm just not all that art educated.

I thought I saw some good footy on Friday night but today had two great games. Port Adelaide beat Sydney in a solid, consistent effort but Brisbane pulled off the 8th greatest comeback, 52 points late in the third quarter, in AFL history against Geelong tonight (I wish the hawks could beat those bums).

Here's the thrilling last two minutes decided by a kick after the final siren by a guy playing in his 200th game. You couldn't write a better script.

Had a nice visit with coaches Fasching and Ramler last Friday morning when I stopped by SJU on my way up north for the weekend. Always nice to visit with the coaches and be back on campus in Collegeville. ;D

The Chaska Cubs will be hosting the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference NIght at the Chaska Athletic Baseball Park on Friday evening, July 26, at 7:30 p.m. when the Cubs host St. Louis Park in town team baseball. Any MIAC student or alum who wears a shirt or hat from their school will get into the game free. The baseball park is located at 800 West 1st Street in Chaska.

As a special culinary delight for this event, Stiftungsfest hamburgers from Norwood Young America and Ruck's pork patties from Belle Plaine will be served. We hope to see every MIAC school represented at the game.

based on the recent forecasts, are the Cubs prepared to play the game underwater?

Congratulations, art, I wish your daughter well.

(Make sure to bring extra shotgun shells; it pays to be prepared.)

AO, I just got an email indicating that the outfield may be underwater soon given the recent rain and the rising Minnesota River. The Cubs were able to get their game in last evening when we hosted Shakopee. Hopefully if this does happen the river will go down by July 26. I will keep everyone posted.
