Got it AO,

Yep I am learning the ropes, UST, UST UST... ;D.  You don't need to fear us just beat us! From what I see we have more then a few CCL kids coming on board and some great talent from the burbs from playoffs schools in Illinois and even some top public schools also.

Maybe you should fear UST!

Maybe we should say "DA TOMMIES!!!!"
These boards are littered with parents and freshmen athletes coming out of the shute trash talking.  It always ends up bad.  Just saying....

To be honest Humility is an extremely honorable trait...ST johns had a good run in the conference for many years from what I have learned.  Nothing wrong with team solidarity but things are falling in place for Tommie's from what I understand this is the year for them to grab the trophy and finally get some rings as the National Champions! Anything else is falling short... Pressure is on!

Humility as an extremely honorable trait... anything short of a national championship is FAILURE!!!11!111!  The Tommie science lab must have some sort of pheromone generating recruiting machine that attracts a natural born Tommie.  Jim Jones wished he had such tasty kool-aid.

St John's has had a good run.  Thanks for the patronizing pat on the head.  SJU has had a good run like a Tommie coed had a good night dating - no one even comes close to more victories.  Hint:  Eddie Robinson is the first loser and if Larry Kehres went back to coaching for another 12 or 13 years he might catch up.  In the last 20 years UST(d) has won two conference titles.  This is one ahead of Augsburg, Concordia and Carleton.  Two behind Bethel.  And 11 behind SJU.

AO-thanks for saving my posts, I am honored. Of course those posts were directed to my loyola academy brother.
It is dangerous for parents to post about their kids or kid's team, but I guess I will probably be dumb enough to do the same in a few years, just make sure you have thick skin.
Yes, the Blue is the best H.S. conference football in Illinois.
How about the number of illinois kids at Minnesota DII schools, that is intetesting.

I remember that St Mary's was a destination for many in Chicago when I was a youngster. I beleieve it was a Christian Brothers thing.

It was like that when my dad went there -- St. Mary's for the guys and St. Teresa for the gals.

It was a good run. And after each win it became a tradition for alumni to plant a Laurus Nobilis tree on campus. They've come to be a welcomed resting spot for players and coaches as a break from the cold winter wind or sweltering summer sun.  Game day visitors like to arrive early and count each one of them or see their sons favorite resting spot. It was under these very trees, so it's been rumored,  that the next generation of great SJU coaching was determined as the search committee met in the cooling shade.

It's a shame UST hasn't been able to enjoy the same tradition, alas the urban setting!  The baseball, basketball and track teams all could contribute with the newly welcomed football team.  If only the board of directors had planted some in Dease's honor, Dienhart could have stayed around to enjoy them.  I guess they'll have to move on with one less in an already light basket of traditions.

Hello MIAC!

My First Post... As you can see!  New to the conference and am am ready for the season to finally begin in a couple of Month's. It is nice to see The Tommie's ranked #2 in the nation, but that doesn't mean much now unless they win National Championship!!! I am really excited to catch some games this seasons at STU  to hopefully see my son on the field.  I would like to say that St. Thomas is really picked up the recruiting effort in Chicago, I didn't even know of the MIAC at all until the coaches at STU contacted my Son.  With that said I am really impressed with The MIAC and the direction they are headed, compared to the other conferences that recruited my son.  I love the fact of the long lasting rivalries like the Tommie's vs the Johnnies and the raising talent level of the other teams in the conference like Bethel and others.  Minnesota is a great state and ST. Paul is a nice place to go to school and I will predict that that there will be more Chicago kids looking up to the great white north to play ball...the kids do really notice who playing for the national Championship and it has really put STU and the MIAC on the map for now for us down in the windy city!

GO TOMMIES!!!!
Welcome.

3 things:
-It's UST, the STU belongs to a school in Florida.
-The best players in Chicagoland play in the CCL Blue, so we don't fear you or an increasing Tommie presence in Chicago.

Wow-one whole guy from the CCL.
And yep, the players in the burbs still talk about Mount and UWW and not about UST-must kinda suck for you. When guys from Loyola start picking UST over Holy Cross-that will be impressive.
On a side note-North Dakota grabbed quite a few players from the Chicago area-was surprised about that.

Ok-well I was talking about the Blue division, but if you want to talk Fenwick-ok-good school, but more like a small suburban school.
All I am saying is that UST isn't that big a deal down here as much as you think-neither is SJU.
What would be interesting is to see what connections these kids had before attending UST-relatives in area, relatives attend school or possibly money thrown at them-legally-work study or something like that.
But I do agree that top players from the Blue division could make a big impact-guys who are fcs or D2 going to SJU or UST.
Just to be clear-there is something called the suburban catholic league-I am not talking about that.
-I'm just trying to start a fight.
.

That said, his post to karma ratio is already higher than yours AO ;)

Torn. I am torn. Between my humanity and my partisanship. Humanity wins for the moment.

Perhaps you should stick with partisanship.  It's said that a captain is supposed to go down with his ship and yours is getting pretty close to the bottom (of the MIAC).

If this runs true to form, they are going to start criticizing your spelling and grammar pretty soon.

Given that all my previous jibes have gone through to the keeper, I'm not sure any comment about grammer would be understood.

I dont' mind it, actually.  It weeds out some of the folks who take things too seriously and can't handle a bit of harmless ribbing.  That being said, it has been fun to see some of the ruffled feathers that have come with the UST success and the SJU decline.

Also, on an unrelated note, being someone who has really only followed the MIAC since 2004, I'm excited to see what Augsburg can do this year.  In the time that I've followed the conference, they've been so awful (outside of the improvement last year).  I know they were pretty good in the 90's, but it is fun to see a team that I've only ever known to be a cellar dweller get back to competitiveness.

In the last 20 years UST(d) has won two conference titles.

Three (straight) conference titles for UST.
