Enough said Double O!!!

Thanks... you nailed it! Yes I am A BEARS, White Sox and of course a Blackhawks Fan...Yes I don't really care for the Cubs, 107 years without a word series win is pretty pathetic. But I definitely look forward to the Tommie's run this year especially at ST. John's expense!

How many MIAC Titles does UST have in a row???   2 or 3???

As noted above, St. Thomas hasn't even lost a conference game in three years so that would make it difficult for them to not also win the conference title all three of those years.

Chicago Tommie, so you're not concerned, most Tommies have and show a lot more class than Mr. Me I Am Cool.

"So true.  However, if your language is too formal for the Collegeville social scene--a sad mix of sexual frustration, alcoholism, and loneliness--they'll label you elitist.  But getting back to football, my bet is that six games in we'll see UST at 6-0 and SJU at 1-5.  Any thoughts?"

Even if in jest, which I doubt, I suggest you walk away from the keyboard and seek perspective on (in your) life.  The above is truly disgusting, and I will stop just short of asking Pat to remove the offending post.

I don't think Pat is going to remove a guy for saying SJU will start 1-5  ;)

Hey ChicagoTommie-
I enjoyed your first post - coming out of the chute with guns blazing! Nice style and it sounds like you are very much the South Chicago guy. Regarding the Blackhawks however, you will get very little love from me. I go back to the North Stars/Blackhawks days when hockey was played by real men.

Some day soon (maybe sooner than you think) you will see UST lose a regular season game.

Certainly a lot worse things have been said on this board. It's a pretty outlandish suggestion to think they'll start 1-5 but it is completely on-topic, especially by this particular conference board's standards.

I'm not sure what all the fuss is about...seems like a rather fair assessment to me.  I see SJU'd season unfolding as follows:

Win: UW-River Falls
Loss: UW-Eau Claire
Loss: St. Thomas
Loss: Concordia-Moorhead
Loss: St. Olaf
Loss: Augsburg
Win: Carleton
Win: Gustavus Adolphus
Win: Hamline
Loss: Bethel

Do any of these seem way off?

The only one I'd for sure flip would be St. Olaf...Cord is a maybe...otherwise, a reasonable assessment.

Maybe, just maybe, the offensive part was the "a sad mix of sexual frustration, alcoholism, and loneliness".   If you're going to type that out, at least throw a smiley in so we don't have to fear your imminent heart attack.

I doubt ChicagoTommie has seen them win more than 1 regular season game, so I doubt it will be that shocking.

First, I too salute another new poster in ChicagoTommie - welcome aboard. Some of us here follow other teams in the MIAC because we used to play for them a long time ago in a galaxy far, far away - Go Bethel! Ahem.

And as I posted just a little while ago, I concur with Mr.MIAC's assessment of the Johnnies this year. They might win another game or two because of turn overs or take-aways, but matching them straight up at the beginning of the season, it's hard to see them doing better than last years squad. That's not bashing, really - just trying to make a fair assessment of the situation. I hope for the sake of many on this board, they do do better. (No, not dog doo-doo).

They could very well beat Eau Claire, might be favored against St. Olaf and they could get Concordia as well.

I saw 2-4 bandied about a few days back. That's the floor for St. John's, I think. If they go 1-5 in that stretch they have significant issues.

SUMMIT!!!!!

Pat, something is terribly wrong with d3football's reseason all-americans. you only have ONE quarterback, 2 RBs, 2WRs etc. in short a legal lineup. Is this allowed? I assumed, since USA Football Network INC had 5 qbs, 9 rbs, 9wrs, that a preseason all-america award was given to everyone (kinda like an attendance award).

Seriously, it is a formidable first team...lots of tough selections made to winnow things down to a REAL team.

Oh, okay.  So as not to get anyone's red undies in a bunch...life at SJU might not include "a sad mix of sexual frustration, alcoholism, and loneliness."

I'm sure all you'll find is an upstanding group of young gentlemen with little to no interest in the opposite sex.  They would never dream of imbibing as it would make the neighboring Bennies seem strangely attractive...far too much of a temptation.

Surely they avoid loneliness through fellowship with other disinterested Johnnies.  They wile away the days, lounging together in the shade of those old Laurus Nobilis trees on campus, one planted for every Johnnie win.  The trees have grown old and strong, but oddly there's not much new growth to be found on campus.

There you go, does that sound suitably idyllic?
